"Simple, no frills hotel. Rooms are clean and fairly good size. No elevator so be prepared to carry luggage upstairs.
Breakfast is basically just DIY waffles, and there’s not really a dining space other than a single table with a few chairs. Microwave and fridge in room.
Bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows — but they were extremely thin. If I had it to do again, I’d bring my own.
Hangers for clothing but I don’t recall an iron or ironing board. Thankfully, I had my steamer. No bag for dirty clothes. Again, thankfully I’d brought my own.
Walls are thin, so I could hear children in nearby rooms and in the hallway. Thankfully, everyone quieted down at night, and it wasn’t a problem.
Hotel permits smoking but my room was non-smoking and smelled clean.
One of the few places in the area with interior doors (versus rooms that are open to the parking area), and I felt reasonably safe as a woman traveling alone."
"Room was clean but the overwhelming smell of room freshener made my eyes water and nose run. I am allergic to strong smells and it was very difficult to lessen the odor in the room to alleviate my allergic reactions.
The shower head produced a stinging ,pinpoint spay of water.
Breakfast was fair, oatmeal watery, coffee in lobby not kitchen area, standard white and wheat bread and everything bagels (I am not a fan of garlic for breakfast).
Was asked by breakfast room staff to wait 5 minutes or so as tray of eggs and sausage were empty and were cooking."
"This was literally the worst hotel ive ever seen. Theres mold in every room and the "amenities" dont work. You're guaranteed to find stains on your bed and no matter what room you get it's the same. I asked for 2 and got the same 2 terrible results. Just trust the rest of the reviews. I cancelled my stay after how abysmal it was and DIDNT EVEN GET A REFUND. THIS PLACE BLOWS"
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Chesapeake by IHG
8/10 Good
"The staff were very friendly and check in/out was quick and easy. The hotel is in a great central location, quiet area and close by to a Target and several restaurants so that you can grab something nearby. The room itself was okay, beds were decent for a one night stay, but pillows were flat. There were some stains on the comforter and the carpet that could have been cleaned up, also the bathroom could use a deep clean. Again, for a one night stay it was decent for a graduation weekend that we were in town for."
