i stayed here as a solo female traveler and absolutely loved it. I felt so safe and the staff was amazing. they were so kind, helped with taxis/bus and were so welcoming. I highly recommend having dinner at the hotel too, it was lovely. I can’t wait to visit ischia again, it’s truly a magical place!

Our stay at Pensione Monti was a highlight of our trip. The accommodations are modest but definitely sufficient. We loved coming back to the hotel after a long day of exploring and unwinding and in the thermals. Meals were delicious and well portioner. The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and address any need.

The hotel staff were extremely kind and helpful. The pool was great and had an amazing view of Ischia. The hot tub/spa area was a bonus! Breakfast was delicious and included and the dining area also boast a lovely view of the island. Only downfall is that it is located quite far from most of the attractions so you have to get around by taking the crowded buses. However, there was a bus stop just 5 minutes away from the hotel.

The perfect place to relax

Everyone was so nice and helpful especially Filipe,giving very professional travel advice about neighborhood and how to plan the rest of my travel. The food was so delicious and fresh. I’ve spent there a week and I wish I could extend my vacation time there. I felt like a part of family not just a random guest. I’ve been in so many different places, but this little hotel has the unique charm. By the way Ischia is a very safe place. I hope I’ll have a chance to be back there someday.

Gorgeous stay at Hotel Pensione Monti

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Pensione Monti, the staff were all lovely and couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful during our stay. The hotel itself is good. It has a great pool with lovely views of the island. Using the thermal spa at the bottom of the hotel was great—it has a sauna, a thermal bath, and a hot and cold small pool. The breakfast buffet was good, with a nice selection of breakfast foods, along with freshly cooked scrambled eggs and delicious homemade cakes. The room was nice, with a large bed and an outside area where we could dry our swimming costumes. You do have to pay for the aircon - it wasn't an issue as after asking for it to be put on someone came to our room to show us how. Bus connections to the different towns weren't too bad, there is a bus stop on either end of the road and you can buy the bus tickets from the main reception. All in all we had a lovely stay on our first trip to the beautiful island of Ischia!

I liked the view, pool, plants/flowers, dining & cleaning waitstaff. I didn’t like the constant cigarette smoking in all close, common, shared outdoor areas for dining, pool swimming, the constant lack of promised internet connection, that I have to pay extra for air conditioning through Expedia, (which was in the fine print that I did not see), that it’s not a “smoke free property” as advertised. I am allergic to cigarette smoke, outdoors in close proximity, or indoors. It makes me ill. No effort is made to make a separate smoking area outdoors for the comfort & health of the other guests. The rooms are old-fashioned, but I could live with that, and I generally have been ok here for a while, but just not constantly dealing with all the cigarette smoke, noise & lights from the street and close by hotel at night, especially, diesel fumes & noise from motor scooters, buses, trucks & cars directly under my bedroom window. I started smelling a natural gas leak of some sort in my bathroom a couple of days ago. My sinuses are very irritated from all that. The sick feeling stops me from doing wonderful things I want to do before leaving this beautiful and interesting island & I keep wanting to lie down and rest instead. I’m going to try to find another place that’s affordable & thoughtful & respectful towards the needs of non smokers, to continue my stay here on this lovely island for a while longer. I would continue to stay here if not for these ongoing issues, discussed with owner

Every once in a while we come across a property where everything comes together to make our stay very memorable. Pensione Monti was exactly that. As other reviewers mentioned, the property itself is somewhat old-fashioned. No latest and greatest design, no flashy interiors. Nonetheless, it has everything one could want. Fantastic location with a wonderful view. Clean, and quiet rooms with comfy beds and nice bathrooms. Pleasant outdoor spaces where one can have a relaxing breakfast or coffee and enjoy the view. Good-sized, clean pool with a nice set of sun chairs and some parts that are in the shade. Hot and cold therapy tubs (this is Ischia, after all!). Adequate parking. But the most important of all was the vibe. Welcoming, unpretentious, and, oh, so relaxing. The staff are friendly and, as others have commented, the owner, Pippo is a real sweetheart who really cares about you and wants you to have a good time. The breakfast was plentiful. In addition to the usual Italian cakes and fruit, one could order eggs and a ham and cheese dish that was so large I could never finish it. All included. We had dinner there twice. The food was tasty and very well-priced. My partner is vegan so they made special dishes for her with a smile. Overall, Pensione Monti offers excellent value and it's one of these rare places where the total experience is more than the sum of its parts.

This is NOT a “smoke-free property” as stated. I am allergic to cigarette smoke including people smoking near me outside. Other guests smoked quite a lot at the outdoor dining area during meals, & around the pool & common areas. No effort was made to establish a separate smoking area apart from the other guests. I was told by the hotel that the Italian law permits smoking ANYWHERE outside, I guess even on private hotel property, because the hotel will not set designated areas apart, for the comfort and health of the other guests. It has been impossible to connect to the internet in my room the whole time, only some connection within about 10 ft of the hotel office sometimes. I apparently did not see the difficult to find small print that for Expedia customers I would have to pay a daily supplemental fee to have air conditioning in my room. Temperatures are now into the 90’s. Because I got a discount room price through Expedia I will have to pay a daily fee if I don’t want to swelter at night. There is no fan that I can use in place of air conditioning The hotel was accommodating for my vegan diet with simple, repeated offerings, like veggie pasta & salad, which was a positive point, although expensive, $27 US. This wait staff was professional, friendly & helpful. This place is pretty outside, with a lovely view & well cared for flowers & plants & a nice pool. It’s too bad about the relentless smoking everywhere outside in shared areas&constant lack of internet connection.

Because I paid through Expedia, features that the hotel advertises as part of one’s stay are not included. It’s in the 90’s now and sweltering, but because I bought through Expedia, which offers a better price, I can only have air conditioning if I pay an extra daily supplemental price. The hotel says WiFi is included in one’s stay, but I have been unable to connect to the hotel’s internet the whole time I’ve been here, which makes my trip planning really difficult. The hotel claims that the WiFi is working. It works for them in their office. They have just brushed me off when I complained that I cannot connect & just keep saying that it works & have done absolutely nothing to make sure I can connect with the WiFi at all over the last 10 days. The owner told me he was doing me a favor by giving me a double bed when he claims that my Expedia cost was for a single bed. I did not ask him for a double bed. It sounds like they have a certain resentment for people who buy their room through Expedia at an Expedia discount offer but continue to use Expedia to attract guests. The hotel has not taken any measures to create defined smoking and non smoking areas outside. Smokers can light up everywhere outside, including in very close, common outdoor eating areas & around the swimming pool. I am a non smoker & have a strong allergy to cigarette smoke anywhere, outside or inside & it makes me ill. The hotel defends people to smoke anywhere outside, without creating a separate smoking area

Le personnel est absolument adorable, toujours souriant et prêt à aider — c’est un vrai point fort de l’établissement. L’emplacement est également idéal : au calme, à l’écart de la foule, mais avec un accès facile aux transports pour rejoindre les lieux d’intérêt. En revanche, l’hôtel est globalement en mauvais état : la piscine présente de nombreux carreaux manquants, la salle de bain a des joints noirs, et il y a beaucoup de fourmis. C’est vraiment dommage, car avec un entretien à la hauteur de la qualité du service et de la localisation, l’expérience pourrait être parfaite.

La struttura è vicina al mare, c’è a 100mt anche la fermata del pullman che passa molto spesso. Il personale altamente qualificato e super gentile, il proprietario ci ha anche permesso il check in la mattina appena arrivati. Ed è possibile fittare i motorini direttamente in sede con consegna e ritiro direttamente nel parcheggio dell’hotel. Ogni richiesta, anche alle 3 di notte, è stata soddisfatta dal personale. Esperienza super positiva. Lo consiglio.
