"Lovely views and the apartment we stayed in was perfect and spacious. Weather was a bit too hot but the pools really helped control it. Would definitely go back!"
"It was wonderful to stay in a castle in Tuscany no less Every person we met was attentive and kind We were staying near friends and didn’t hang around the grounds much or use the pool but everything seemed well kept It’s really a place to retreat to eat at and sleep at which served our purpose well "
"Such a classic Tuscany location. Beautiful old Watermill turned into a hotel so it is very rustic. Cell phone service on the area is not good but WiFi seemed fine. Pools were nice but not too big and not a lot of space to accommodate all guests. Enjoyed the breakfast. Staff were helpful. "
"My friend and I had such a relaxing time at Relais!! We both got amazing massages from Natalie, the staff helped me figure out how to get to Rome after, the rooms were GORGEOUS, the pool was spectacular and got great poolside drinks, and the food/wine was the best!!! Stay here for a romantic and relaxing getaway surrounded by Tuscany’s beautiful rolling hills and vineyards. Would definitely come back!"

Castello di Spaltenna- Small Luxury Hotels of the World
10/10 Excellent
"An utterly enchanting escape nestled within the Tuscan hills, Castello di Spaltenna perfectly blends centuries-old charm with modern elegance. The spa and both indoor and outdoor pools are wonderfully indulgent, complemented by serene views across vineyards and olive groves. The Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Pievano, delivers exceptional cuisine under romantic candlelight, while attentive and warm-hearted service adds to every moment.
Each room feels genuinely Tuscan—stone walls, beamed ceilings, cozy fireplaces—all paired with contemporary comforts. Mornings on the breakfast terrace offer breathtaking panoramas that awaken the senses, and the immaculate grounds invite long, relaxing strolls. A magical, unforgettable retreat—we can’t wait to return."
"The property is set in the tiny village of San Sano, surrounded by vineyards and olive orchards. Beautiful! The property itself is in excellent condition even though it is in the remains of a long destroyed castle. The rooms were ample sized and clean. The on site pool was well maintained and had lounge chairs with umbrellas surrounding it. The staff was super nice and helpful. Morning breakfast ( included) and light dinner (at an extra cost) were tasty. The light dinners were prepared outside the property and featured typical Tuscan food options. The property owner offers tours of his vineyard and wine tastings for his very good wines."
"This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The staff, food and grounds are fantastic. Can’t recommend more! Big thanks to Luka and Giuseppe for making our stay so special. Great wine tasting and delicious wine recommendations. Won’t disappoint "
"Castello di Tornano is heaven on earth! The property itself is awe-inspiring, with comfortable rooms inside a spectacular 1300 year-old castle. Amazing food served on a terrace overlooking the valley and vineyards and some of the best meals we've ever eaten, anywhere. Incredible staff (Duccio and Martina are particularly amazing, but literally everyone who works there is wonderful). Beautiful, historic villages and towns within easy driving distance if you want to explore the region and try other restaurants. Take a dip in the beautiful pool to cool off from the hot Tuscan sun. We absolutely loved our time at the Castello and we dream of returning some day!"
