Hotel is situated in a square next to the clock tower kind of hard to find when you get there you have to check in at another motel called Castle Ruth was very confusing.Parking is located a couple blocks away in a underground garage it all ended up being okay but it was just kind of inconcieint.
Hotel itself is very nice and the breakfast service in the morning was great and super clean super well taken care of.
So lovely and quaint and right in town. Cavallino d'Oro has lots of amenities, the sauna of which was our favorite. Wonderful and friendly staff. We would stay again and recommend for sure. Rode the local chairlift, 3 minutes walk from hotel, to so many trails.
The two biggest surprises were Viktor, their 3 day a week hiking guide, and how knowledgeable and helpful the staff were in planning our hikes and how to get there. Also, the complimentary bus pass to the awesome local bus service that can get you to and from hikes. Otherwise, it’s just a lovely hotel.
Great location. pleasant facility, nice that it had laundry facility on property. Nice breakfast. No air-conditioning a bit noisy with window open. Hard to find, different checkin location.
Beautiful property on the main square. Excellent service - above and beyond really. We greatly enjoyed exploring Alpe di Suis with their free hiking guide. We also took his advice for dinner one night and reception’s suggestion for another night. Both were wonderful. Breakfast was included and was light and very fresh. The Honesty Bar was a great place for well priced snacks and drinks. Loved our balcony view for relaxing. The location as a whole can’t be beat - 2 min walk to the bus station and in the heart of the village for exploring. Then the free bus pass they provided took us all over the region.

We are frequent travelers and understand the reality of travel and the hospitality industry.
This hotel belongs to a larger hotel, where check in is made: a bid complicated when you have lots of luggage. The service in our hotel was excellent: very kind staff!
The greatest disappointment was the dinner we had the first night at the main Hotel.
The meal which was presented to us was catastrophic, at the least.
The salad bar, was so uninviting, as the level of the produce spoke for itself.
When the main course arrived, we could not believe that in a region, which is proud of the freshest ingredients and local produce, a meal could be presented in that fashion.
The meat was impossible to eat but more so the vegetables: obviously cooked in advance and reheated for the night service.
Our party of 4 left the restaurant at once, and when we explained our reasoning to the head of the reception and saying that we are looking for a more agreeable restaurant, she just snaped:
„Well then: „Guten Appetit“!
Not a humble excuse or even an attempt to correct what was a scandalous fault of the hotel kitchen!
In a region, where arrogance towards the paying clients has taken hold, the German saying „Wegen Reichtum geschlossen“, is a telling proverb.
We work ourselves in the service business and know hat it is very hard to deliver consistency: we are all human, but acknowledging one’s mistakes with kindness, is always a good idea!
This hotel works in partner with the Castelruth Hotel and has no onsite staff except at breakfast. Any problems must require a call the Casteruth front desk.
Directions to find hotel parking were extremely poor. and included a very confusing map not drawn professionally to scale, requiring another phone to the Castelruth.
The room, booked 5 months in advance, had no AC and and it four hours and several phones to get a staff member to bring a simple oscillating fan to the room.
This hotel staff lacks customer appreciation.
The hotel is very pretty and has a unique old world style. I loved the carpets and woodwork on the ceilings. There’s a game room and bar room that’s all self serve. The weird stuff begins when you check in. You have to check in at another hotel 5 min away down a hill so there is no one at the front desk at this hotel. So if you have luggage you have to walk it uphill to this hotel or bring a car then drive it back to the other hotel. That means also no one to talk to about the area, You have to go to the other hotel for that. Then we booked a room for $285 and it’s in July and we’re Americans. The hotel was not full. So instead of giving us a nice room. They gave us a room with a view of a construction project and the room was one of the tiniest in the hotel. The beds were small made for kids And were very firm Foam. It was quite uncomfortable and hard to sleep and in the morning around 7 am the nail guns started so it was just bad that the hotel didn’t have the customer service skills to realize this.
I just hope they don’t give this room to anyone else. It should be the last one to give when everything else is taken.
Otherwise I liked the welcome drink on Sunday with snacks and the design of the hotel is great. It feels like an old Swiss chalet. There were about 6 other people staying and no one really talked or played games downstairs. There’s a self service bar with snacks and drink with everything a
Vi koste oss veldig her!
