"The property was very clean. The bed was very comfortable except for the flat pillows. We had very poor tv for both nights. It was frustrating that we couldn’t watch the nba playoffs on either tv because their satellite had poor reception. The front desk never answers the phone so I went down to the desk and the employee was reading and eating pizza. The second night they didn’t answer because they were folding laundry. With that being said there are limited options in Pikeville(which is a lovely town)."
"The property is extremely run down and not at all what I would consider a clean or comfortable stay. The room had a very strong and unpleasant plug-in fragrance smell that seemed to be covering up other odors. The pillows smelled heavily of body odor, the white towels were stained and the dye from the blue towels ran when wet.
The bathroom and shower area need much better cleaning and maintenance. There was mildew on the bathroom ceiling, soap stains on the shower curtain that made it obvious it had not been washed before our stay, and a blue cleaning-product-like stain in the shower that appeared to have been sprayed but never wiped down. The toilet placement was awkward and would hit the wall when standing up.
The body soap provided smelled old, did not lather properly, and felt very low quality. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my own toiletries and had no choice but to use it. Also, bring flip flops because walking barefoot in the room or bathroom is not something I would recommend.
To be fair, the mattress was fairly comfortable and the atmosphere was quiet. The only positives were that the motel was pet-friendly and the front desk staff were friendly during check-in. Overall, I would not stay here again, even if it were free."
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pikeville by IHG
8/10 Good
"Ice machines on floors 3 and 4 were inoperable and appeared to have been for a period of time. Parking lot need some work and is small for a hotel this size.
Honestly the condition and cleanliness of hotel and rooms was great, no real complaints other than these 2 issues. B’fast is more than expected for this type of hotel."
