"The Chateau is stunning, our check in was very good and our room lovely.
However, to be clear, although it's marketed on websites such as Hotels.com, it is not a hotel in the traditional sense. There is no service provided at all apart from an average, 'self serve' breakfast. The photos we saw online of beautiful pastries unfortunately did not materialise.
There was a coffee machine in our room, but no coffee! We had to go down 3 floors to find a coffee pod, for which we were charged extra. I have never before stayed in a hotel or b&b where a coffee in my room has been an extra charge. I have also never been asked to pay to 'hire' a pool towel before!
We received one complimentary bottle of water, on what was probably the hottest day of the year, late 30's.
The honesty bar was stocked with a minimal choice of drinks.
Whilst we enjoyed our stay, for the overnight cost which was almost double that of a good local well known chain hotel, I'm not sure it was good value for money. The chateau is beautiful, but we would have enjoyed our stay more with some service included after a long day driving through a very hot France. However, we now understand the Happimag principles and will bear them in mind for the future."
"We used this motel as a stay over on our way down to Granite lake for fishing. There are purpose built
Self contained log cabins in the grounds of the main building which we stayed in. It was perfect for our needs. Very basic but very clean and comfortable which the price reflects and we were 100% satisfied and enjoyed the owners and locals hospitality. The food and wine was very nice too!"
"This is the second time we have stayed here. Virginie and her family are so welcoming and the property is both quiet and charming. Make sure to have dinner in the restaurant. Some of the best food you will have in France. "
"We had a wonderful stay although it was out of season (technically closed) and we were the only guests. The host opened up just for us and made us feel very welcome"
"The area around the property is an old town that has seen better days. Some properties have been restored beautifully and there is some amazing medieval architecture. Very close by is free, convenient parking and the area felt very safe. The patron is charming and helpful and the owner of a nearby excellent restaurant, serving wonderful food. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and we slept very well. Breakfast was continental and more than adequate."
