Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Historic District

"Location is great! Staff is helpful!
Hotel is stuck in a time capsule. If you are staying for one to two nights you can deal with the dilapidated rooms."
"Location: Nice.
Staff: The staff were very nice and helpful.
Happy Hour: nice, 5-6 daily. Free wine. And they turned down the music (loud) when I requested it.
Room: the room was spacious, the bed fine. The bathroom was not wonderful. A sliding glass door - which didn’t close completely - separated the bedroom from the bathroom. This made toilet time essentially not private. The toilet was on the way to malfunction, making horrible noises on each flush. Sorry to be graphic.
Amenities: Breakfast was a joke and totally unacceptable. A basket every morning filled with who knows what. Coffee could be made in a coffee pot. Want real coffee? Go to Rise nextdoor, which is owned by the hotel. But hey, for several hundred $$$ a night where is the free, decent coffee we expect in a hotel of this price range.
Restaurant: Didn’t eat at the restaurant. Very noisy; more atoned for the younger crowd. Front desk encouraged us to eat elsewhere because of the great food in Charleston! (Why couldn’t the restaurant make our breakfast?)
Valet Service: Worked well, although $40 a day seemed steep.

"Our room was supposed to be ready at 3 o'clock. The staff said that the rooms were not ready but to check it back at three. We check back at three. She said it wouldn't be ready till four. We came back at 4:20 and they still were not ready. It wasn't until I had a fit. The manager helped and gave us a different room. This will be my third stay at this hotel, and I was very disappointed. Unfortunately, I do not know the staff members name who was not very pleasant. I do know it was not Chrystal when she saw that I had a hotel.com reservation. I felt like her whole demeanor changed with my room, even though I am a Hilton member. I was not given a Hilton member bag although when we checked in Matt, the manager said that we were a valued Hilton member. I also do not get any points with Hilton when I stay there and I book through Hotels.com let's just say I'm very frustrated. I have to stay there again the 15th because we have a concert and it's so convenient. I hate to change it. I've stayed there two other times and they were fine. I understand people get busy but that isn't my fault and I should not have to wait an hour and a half for a room and actually I got there at two and usually that isn't a problem either they usually have a room ready. I just feel that they could have done something to accommodate my stay."
