MUST STAY !

We have never had a B&B host treat us so well, from touring Charleston to the absolute best recommendations for dinner and sites to see. Vaughn is amazing, and to be able to walk everywhere from her lovely home was such a pleasure.

Our first visit but not our last!!

Vaughan was the consummate hostess. The B&B is quite charming, in a quiet neighborhood but very convenient. Our room was wonderful. The home cooked breakfast each morning should not be missed. We will definitely return!

Authentic southern hospitality

We totally enjoyed our stay at 22 Charlotte. The proprietor, Vaughn, has created a unique experience for you in her beautifully decorated home, where she will make you feel more like family than an invited guest. The room was opulently decorated with possibly the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. The breakfast was way beyond my expectations, and she makes every effort to accommodate your preferences. Vaughn has an extensive knowledge of Charleston which she is happy to share with you. We only stayed two nights, which is so not long enough, but even so we felt like we were leaving an old friend! There’s a lot of value here for your money. I hope to return to Charleston and would definitely stay here again.

The epitome of southern hospitality!

Given our interest in antiques and history Charleston has become our favorite vacation spot. Ms. Vaughn gave us a tour of the antique and art sectors to help us plan efficient use of our time. After taking in all the local history we then retire to Ms. Vaughn's comfortable historic home. Except for Uber and cell phones we are able to experience, virtually unabated, that period when the basics of family, faith, and courtesies were fundamental to southern living. And in the morning be prepared for a marvelous breakfast that is better than you'll find in the restaurants! Thank-you dear Vaughn. You are a blessing to my wife and me! Brooks in Nashville

Upon entering two cats were roaming the hall (good thing we did not have allergies). I was appalled when I saw the room-it obviously was the owner's private bedroom as all but one drawer was filled with personal items -I didn't need to see her underwear! No closet space offered, so we lived out of suitcases,.The room was over decorated with a collection of antique hairbrushes completely covering the vanity, paintings and crosses hung from floor to ceiling - memorabilia everywhere. The very high bed had a step stool on one side, but my companion had to jump up & down on the other side. The weather was unseasonably cold, & the room was very chilly & the bathroom was freezing! There was a space heater in the bath which did not do an adequate job. There was no shower, only a large tub. This is not my preference & was not mentioned when I reserved the room. I let the water in the sink run for 10 minutes, & the water was still ice cold. We asked if the fireplace could be used, and the owner said it hasn't worked in years. NO housekeeping services were offered - NONE. I could see dust - it was some time since the room was thoroughly cleaned. The owner had made reservations for dinner for me on the phone & sounded very gracious...however she was far from gracious while there. The only positive thing I can say is that breakfasts were nicely served. I've traveled a great deal in the US & Europe, have stayed in B&Bs often, & never had such a completely NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE

Great location! Very short walk to the shops and restaurants but displaced enough that it wasn't too noisey at night. The house is very cute and clean. The inn keeper/owner is friendly and welcoming. It's so nice to be able to have a place to park your car with no worries.

Wonderful home in downtown Charleston

Loved my stay with Vaughn. It was like staying with a friend. I hated to leave. I stayed in the owner’s room. It was amazing. sh made breakfast each morning. It was an amazing feast.

Elegant and charming accommodations.

Vaughan, our hostess, was charming, helpful and very proud of her home and city. She took us on a tour and got us started off with a good map and directions. We were arriving on a Saturday night and I had asked her to make us reservations for dinner somewhere. She not only took care of that for the entire week, but sent a detailed list (with times addresses and phone numbers) to us. And every restaurant somehow knew it was our anniversary! Breakfasts were enormous and top notch, and our room was lovely. Afternoons were spent reading on the porch after exploring downtown each morning.

Southern Charm

My wife and I recently visited Charleston S.C. for the first time, even though we were both born in the South, myself in Texas and my wife in Tennessee. Charleston has become one of our new favorite cities. Ms. Vaughan is a gem, and I might add a wonderful coo!. I hope to be able to come back one day soon. We weren't there long enough to experience all that Charleston has to offer.

Southern charm through and through

Beautiful and inviting home. Vaughn is so welcoming, helpful with recos and suggestions and full of southern hospitality- but not intrusive- she lets you do your thing. Her breakfasts are to die for! You won't leave hungry! Location is excellent- capable walking distance to historic market, French quarter and King street shopping district - far enough away to not be in the traffic, noise and bustle of those areas.
