Barcelo, Cheltenham hotels

"The Citrus Hotel is tired. It's seen better days (presumably when it was the Tax Office) and isn't really in great shape. The corridors have a peculiar odour. The lift doors refuse to shut. The bed was like a marshmallow. On a positive note the receptionist helped us even though he'd clocked off, but that was only necessary because his replacement had gone AWOL. Cheap enough, but really. Tell yourself that you deserve better. I won't be returning."

"It was a very nice setting outside but inside could have a better layout, felt like a business lounge in the airport. Staff were friendly and helpful but did have a few issues with orders which resulting in myself eating separately despite the meal costing around £300. Unfortunately too many children around for us having a night off from children! Lots of rooms downstairs so perhaps some adult only areas? Lots of children in the Spa which made the experience quite unrelaxing. Very overpriced for the experience in my opinion. Sadly wouldn’t return. Although food was delicious and bed very comfy!"

"Beautiful venue and rooms were lovely, unfortunately the bed wasn’t very comfortable which was a shame, it looked like 2 divans had been put together to make a king size and there was a hard beam running down the middle of the bed. It didn’t ruin the stay it was just a bit disappointing for such a lovely place. However the cleanliness was top notch and I felt happy overall."

"There is a bar at the hotel that blasts music till really late at night. If u r looking for a quiet rest this is not the hotel for you. "

"The hotel lacked the polished service and five-star finesse one would reasonably expect, particularly within the restaurant and lounge areas. Table service was notably absent, requiring guests to collect their own drinks from the bar. During dinner, only part of our order was processed by the waiter, leaving some of the party waiting for meals that had not been entered. The experience culminated in one guest leaving without dining at all while the remainder of the party had already eaten. In addition, the spa facilities were disappointing, with the jacuzzi not fully functional and used towels left around the area by guests, creating an untidy and poorly maintained environment. "

"Booked the stay last minute for the Jazz Festival,and so glad we chose Malmaison. Alex at the front desk was fantastic,friendly and very welcoming and we were also able to park in the underground garage. We stayed in a Club deluxe room which was amazing,overall couldn’t fault anything,this hotel will now be our go to hotel in Cheltenham."
