"The 1st room we were assigned had ants and a chemical smell. I thought perhaps it was their cleaning chemicals but in retrospect it was potentially insect spray. The staff did accommodate us quickly and moved us to another room. The 2nd room was at least bug free but.... it had plaster patching issues all over the ceiling, rust on the L brackets that connected the ceiling to the wall and the wallpaper was curling away from the wall in the corners due to humidty issues. The hotel is in major need of remodeling. The toilets were some of the lowest I have ever seen. The vanity had been replaced but it was a very tall vanity....not counter height. The toilet started leaking around the base on day 2 which was our last day. The breakfast buffet consisted of making belgium waffles, bagels, toast, a muffin, hot oatmeal, and cold cereal. Not any protein at all. Apple juice, milk, coffee and hot tea to drink. Kind of disappointing. Same offering on day 2. It advertises a state of the art fitness center but that consisted of 3 pieces of avg equipment. The lobby of the hotel was nice and appeared to have been updated but I guess they hadn't gotten to anything else yet."
"Breakfast was great, with good choices. However, a little more consideration could be practiced in providing options to people who prefer not to eat pork. Parking was ample and convenient. "
"The only thing that was I disappointed in the continental breakfast. I wouldn't count on it. Make plans to go out for breakfast Instead. But everything else was good. "
"The room was comfortable and the parking was great.
However, if a property advises that it has a pool, then the pool must be available at least some of the time. Because the property also acted as a health club for locals, the pool was never available for us.
The pool has a limit of 4 people at one time, which is utterly ridiculous and not in line with pools at other hotels we stayed at locally. Also, there was no signage about this, and we weren't told about this verbally, so we only found out when health club users (extremely rudely) stopped us from entering the pool.
When we discussed this with the hotel manager he took the side of the health club users and ignored their complete arrogance and unfriendliness. Clearly the hotel is more interested in money from locals than from hotel guests.
The hotel manager's approach to this completely upset my wife. He came down to the poolside and ordered my wife out of the lane that she was using (which had one other person in) and then told us that she was not to use the pool again for the duration of our stay. From that point on, no-one on reception spoke to us, and when we checked out we weren't even thanked for staying there.
We've stayed before at this property and especially booked a return to the area because of it. Our holiday was completely ruined by the attitude of some of the locals and the hotel management. We'll never come this way again."
