Sustainable 2BD Pod on Old Chalford Farm

8/10 Good

"Lovely pod in a great location: easy driving to Blenheim Palace, Bicester Village and Diddly Squat Farm. Nice, quiet location. Pod was well appointed. Did need an indoor brush or hoover of some sort for longer stays. No ironing board that I could find! Windows need some attention - it’s an amazing view but they are smudged on the inside and look like they haven’t been cleaned in a while on the outside. Inside was clean, but the couch was a bit dusty and there were obvious stains on the chairs and the rug. Unfortunately I also had to rewash most things out of the cupboards before using, and the towels had a very bad smell to half of them. Hopefully this is just attention to detail stuff that could be sorted easily! Main drawback was the adjacent single track road. Lots of people passing during the day and that side door has no privacy and makes it like a goldfish bowl. I’d definitely recommend getting some sort of screening sorted on that side! However overall stay was good. Very comfy and an ok price considering the area."

"We were given an upgrade to larger room which was ok..but lots of stairs , as third floor and both over 60 lol but appreciated the extra space . Hotel was in good place for visting other places. The meal we had in the restaurant was yummy , i had the fish and chips and hubby had the burger. But breakfast not so good, bacon was hard as was streaky and it was a mix for scrambled egg which was not very nice , tin mushrooms and tomatoes needed cooking longer and sausage and hash brown was ok and beans .Fruit salad was basic was melon and apple maybe 5 grapes sliced in half in it . After restauant being so good was shocked with breakfast feeling so cheap. You also had bread for toast and spreads and yogs and cereal and usuall drinks."

"A really old, beautiful place to stay, with such a cosy feel throughout. The whole place is full of charm and character. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Because the building is so old, there are a few creaks and uneven floors, but for us, that only added to the charm and made the stay even more special. We ate in the pub on our first night and the food was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was spot on both mornings, and we enjoyed taking our coffee outside to the back of the pub, listening to the church bells and taking in the lovely views. We would definitely recommend staying here and would happily stay again. A truly charming place with lots of character."

A complimentary beer from the local brewery, bottle opener, and water/tea/coffee facilities were left on the coffee table - a nice touch. Staff were very helpful in accommodating our late arrival. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area."
