Loved the fact it was originally the NZ air force officers mess. A beautiful 1930's building with lots of original features. Nice staff and recently updated

Check in was very bad. I am 80 years old and I have a room on 1st floor. There are no lifts and there was nobody to help me take my luggage up 2 flights of stairs, even though I asked.

Newly renovated rooms w an old military flare in the hallways. As a retired military officer, it was a great feel to walk the halls of an old officer building.

The staff here is amazing so friendly. This is a hidden gem. The restaurant has great food, close to the airport and center city but away from all the hustle and bustle.

Property is amazing. May not look like much from outside but rooms are amazing. Best beds and close to 5 star type experience in the room. Amazing staff. Great service. Marty at the bar is just awesome.

Incredible service!
From the moment we came in the door, the receptionist went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable and special. She saw our heavy luggage and changed our room so we would be on the ground floor, offered us early check-in, made sure on many occasions that we were alright and opened the door for us as we were leaving with our many luggages. It was so appreciated!

A hidden gem
Very charming hotel with lots of interesting history & strong tie to RNZAF. The bathroom has heated floor, what a lovely surprise! The restaurant makes nice meals and provides good customer service. The only setback is the desk inside the room was too small and there’s no power point near the desk, a bit difficult for a business traveler.

We enjoyed the room (nicely decorated) and the building and history attached to it. However the overall experience was spoiled by the debris and rubbish outside our bedroom window, the fact we where supplied a very limited amount of milk (only allowed for one cup of tea each) as well as that the bed was poorly made up for our second night stay. Given what what we where charged a night this was very disappointing and would not return or recommend to others

Quiet and easy to access. Friendly helpful staff Air con was uncontrollable kept resetting itself onto higher temperature therefore turned it off and opened windows which was OK but a bit noisier. Thought you would like to know that the seal on shower door was not good and leaked onto outside floor.

Lovely boutique hotel. We stayed for loner than we originally booked as the venue was so interesting, the room and bathroom lovely and we slept so well because the bed was so comfortable. Very friendly and attentive staff.

The room was very nice and comfortable, the staff were friendly, the food in the restaurant was very good. And it's a good location for the Wigram and southern parts of the city. But what lets the place down is it lacks atmosphere or charm in the public areas like reception and corrdiors. Considering it was once the Officers' Mess for Wigram Air Base, you'd think this would be reflected in the decor and style. But you'd hardly know, there was little to show. The corridor to our room was a long, dreary and cold space with the occasional picture on the walls which had nothing to do with the place's history or location. And the grounds were really unloved. It would not take much to make this hotel more welcoming and unique. It has such potential.

Really enjoyed the stay here. And what a wonderfully comfortable king size bed. A must is to visit the free entry aviation museum which is a 2 minute walk away from the hotel.
