"I did not know exactly what to expect from this B&B. It surpassed all my expectations & then some.
The first thing upon arrival at this one-of-a-kind property is to be greeted warmly by the property owners, Al & Annette. These are super sweet people who were put on this earth to deliver some serious hospitality. They are professional hosts by which all others should be measured. Unfortunately, they can never measure up because A² = A³^³^³
The grounds are next. Omfg. Gardens, lillies, cat tails, trout pond, sexy deck & oodles of trees, it is serene and so so SO quiet. So quiet you can hear your own brain juices. Time was well spent on that deck, zipped in nice and safe from the insects.
Then the home. Hexadecahedron is an unusual shape for a house and the construction story is really neat. You can literally feel the love that went into the build. Words do not do justice.
The layout of the bottom level is where the 2 available bedrooms are, along with a shared washroom. I got to stay in the Loon Room and it was so lovely. It was very large and comfortable filled with folk art and Canadiana which was really good to see. Comfortable bed, soft linens & throws everywhere, just restful.
Breakfast was such a treat. Al prepared French toast with Annette's homemade bread, & then topped with maple syrup and her preserves. I almost believed in a higher power for a second or two while that was in my mouth.
They also have a little gift shop of handicrafts so be sure to bring cash."
"Beautiful setting and lovely accommodations. I loved that they provided life jackets and free use of kayaks, paddle boards and canoes. The kids loved the field to play games and the dock on the water was great for jumping into the lake. The frog pad was a big hit and kept them occupied! The fire in the evening was great, even though we had to put the kids to bed and didn't get to spend much time there.
We did not use the restaurant, but maybe next time! We plan to return."
"Great place to stay while exploring the Bancroft area. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are a great comfy place to crash after a day of adventure."
