Top Costa Rica Nature Pavilion Hotel Reviews
Maquenque Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"This is a barely discovered gem, a rare destination that will leave you with lifelong memories. We stayed here 9 years ago, and returned this summer. The rainforest location is unique. We stayed in a treehouse, with frequent visits from spider monkeys and seemingly endless species of birds. We partook for a second time the riverboat tour through the local rainforest, up through the Nicaragua border. We saw spectacular macaws, toucans, and numerous other bird species. We encountered crocodiles, circling vultures over cow pastures, a green river snake swimming at the town boat dock. We saw other monkey species hanging out in the trees, iguanas… But perhaps most memorable to us was the genuineness of the Eco Lodge staff. Many are local, and share with us their pride in their community. Their true warmth allows us to experience the rainforest, not as a visiting tourist, but as a proud local. The guides are wonderful! They are smart, engaging and passionate. Even on our return boat ride across the river to the parking area, the staff member took a slight detour to point out colorful macaws eating fruit in a tree on the riverbank. We came with our family, there were tourists of all ages, from young children to older retirees. Our binoculars and telephoto lenses got quite the workout! While we are not professional birdwatchers, the diversity was remarkable. And, we found fellow tourists to be grounded, appreciative of life and the opportunity. Thank you staff!!!"
Hotel Los Sueños de Bajos del Toro
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed here during a family vacation and were blown away by this beautiful property that’s located in Bajos del Toro, a truly spectacular location in central Costa Rica. William, the owner happened to be there during our visit and both he and Viktor, his business partner, were welcoming and helpful - truly lovely people. The beds were comfortable, the property was clean and well-equipped, and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed drinking our coffee on the back porch overlooking the waterfall. Our kids also loved the loft. William also told us about Melvin and Ana, who come through the town Mondays and Tuesdays selling produce in a bus. They also were amazing people and we really enjoyed our conversation with them as we shopped for fruit and vegetables. If you’re ever in the area, you must stay here. We definitely will be back!"

Peace Lodge

"Absolutely beautiful resort. The bathroom is fabulous. The bed is comfortable and the fireplace takes a chill off in the evening. The food in the restaurants is good with lots of choices. The grounds are very well maintained. The view is awesome and the park is amazing."
Hotel & Spa El Escondite de la Montaña
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed 3 nights, beautiful scenery, nice cool nights...bed was a little hard, but passable. Roosters and donkey woke me up early....but better than traffic noise..I will highly recommend it"
Aranwa Sarapiquí Rainforest Lodge
8/10 Good
"The grounds here were very pretty- several trails where you could bird watch, and the view from the infinity pool was very nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only things we found to lower my rating slightly were that the rooms (depending on where you're assigned) can be a little way down a path and there didn't seem to be a golf cart/similar vehicle to help you with your bags. I had a group of teenagers, so hauling their own luggage wasn't a problem except that it was raining the night we stayed so everyone got wet moving luggage to our rooms. Also, you drive to the end of the road to register (and this is where you unload your luggage to take to your rooms), but then you've got to park your car in a lot closer to the main entrance, so there is extra walking involved if you had mobility issues. I know the beauty of the place is that it's surrounded by nature, but in one of our rooms we found 3 centipede/millipede type creatures (2 on the floor and 1 on the wall), and one other insect that weren't there when we first got into the room, but later likely came in via the crack under the exterior door. This freaked my daughters out as we found them right before bedtime, so if you were insect averse you might consider a location in a less outdoorsy place."
Nuakú Jungle
10/10 Excellent
"We had such a lovely stay at Nuaku! The hotel is tucked away in the middle of a beautiful, lush jungle, surrounded by wildlife, greenery, and all the wonderful sounds of nature. The property felt very peaceful, clean, and safe, and throughout our stay we genuinely felt at home. The staff made our experience especially memorable. Francisco, the manager, was incredibly kind, welcoming, and hospitable. He was always willing to help and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. We truly appreciated him! Melania was also so lovely and kind, helping us with our laundry and offering advice whenever we needed it. Breakfast was delicious, and we really enjoyed having it surrounded by the jungle. The pool and property were beautiful and added to the peaceful atmosphere. One thing to keep in mind is that you are truly staying in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle, so you will encounter insects! We saw tiny ants, praying mantises, leaf bugs, and plenty of other little jungle visitors. We personally found it to be part of the experience, but if you are very uncomfortable around insects, it is something to be prepared for. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and are very grateful for the hospitality we received. Nuaku felt like our little home in the jungle for a few days, and we would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic stay surrounded by Costa Rica’s beautiful nature. Thank you, Francisco, Melania, and the entire Nuaku team! ❤️"
