Good deal, nice place
For what we paid, this was a very good place. One lives in a private home, there are a few bedrooms, all sharing a spotless bathroom and kitchen. The owner lives somewhere in the back and he is an agreeable fellow; told me many interesting things about Iceland and all in all a good person

Great Stay at Arni's Home
Arni is the perfect host! If you are looking for a wonderful stay in the countryside then look no further. His home is clean and comfortable. We enjoyed visiting with Arni and his property is beautiful. We took several walks on his property accompanied by Toki, Arni's amazing black lab. If you are looking for a cookie cutter hotel stay look elsewhere, but if you looking for a memorable stay with a local then book here immediately!

Wonderful host and most memorable of our stays
Just back from a 30-day trip around Iceland with husband and stayed at 7 different hotels/hostels in that time. I found Tokasstadir to be my favorite due to the human connection with Arne, our host and owner of this house. We stayed for 3 nights and loved driving back to the house to have his 2 very friendly dogs run up to meet us as we drove up (see pics). We had a waffle breakfast with Arne and also were able to get answers to many Icelandic traditions, schooling, etc. This guesthouse is located just up Road 94 from the turn-off to Seydisfjordur and on the only road (Road 94) up to the Puffin Marina (see live webcam) to Bordurfjordur Eystri harbor where puffins are up close and personal! This place is also located within a few km back to Egilsstadir! Great location and cheap accommodations for the money. Best part--getting to know Arne who was absolutely wonderful!

Too much of a home
The place was too much of a home, it was like staying at a strangers house, not like a proper guesthouse, and you can not lock the door of your room so it does not feel private nor safe. The dog of the house was a bit too friendly and he was barking early morning waking us up. We felt uncomfortable staying here, we had to pay in cash and the price can change from the time of your booking because the owner takes his payment in euros so if you pay in another currency the exchange rate might make the price higher. We do not reccomend this place.
