Criccieth Castle

9.0/10 (70 reviews)
The ruins of imposing Criccieth Castle are a superb example of a native castle. Built during the reign of Llywelyn the Great, one of the greatest Welsh statesmen of the Middle Age, these spectacular ruins, dramatically situated on the headland between two sandy beaches, tower over the blue waters of the bay. The castle looks down on the pretty seaside resort of Criccieth, and offers a vista from which to survey the North Cambrian Coast and the Llลทn Peninsula of North Wales.

"Lovely hotel, restaurant food was very good, wait staff excellent, The room was good, but found the bed a big hard. There was no aircon and the fan was not really suitable to keep the room cool. There were no tissues or shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Disappointing no fridge to keep drinks cool and no complimentary water."

Aberdunant Hall

10/10 Excellent
"We had a lovely couple of nights staying at Aberdunant Hall this week! The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet at nighttime (we were opposite the park which was a bit noisy in the evening, but quietened down when it was time to sleep so it wasnโ€™t an issue). The holiday park itself also looked great and surrounded by so much lovely scenery. We had a meal at the restaurant on one of the nights and breakfast each morning which we really enjoyed and felt was a reasonable price (especially the breakfast at only ยฃ14pp for the buffet). The staff in the restaurant/bar were all very friendly, particularly Neil and Caio who looked after our table. We would definitely use Aberdunant Hall as a base again if weโ€™re ever returning to explore North Wales."

10/10 Excellent
"This place really exceeded our expectations. We thought it looked nice online but itโ€™s even nicer in real life. We had a family room and we were very happy with it. Everything was clean and well kept. We were very impressed with the quality of everything in the hotel, including the lovely smelling shampoo and shower gel provided, the super soft bedding and the nice, powerful shower. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Nothing we asked felt like too much trouble. The breakfasts were delicious and they had options for vegetarians and vegans, which was great for us. There are also EV charger in the hotel car park, which really helped with our trip. The hotel itself is in a great location for exploring Betws-y-coed and North Wales. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in that area!"
