"Very peaceful, lovely private garden patios with a stream running past and lots of bird song. Inside, the cottage is equally serene and well thought out, with lots of windows, plentiful hooks in the bathroom and a great walk in shower, as well as a clean and spacious kitchen and living room. And the location is perfect, with easy access to all the hiking trails and castles. We loved our stay in this cottage. Perfect!"

Nant Ddu Lodge Hotel

6/10 Okay

"I love staying here, it is my go to place when I badly need some downtime. Staff are still lovely and friendly and helpful (although sad to see some old faces now gone) Unfortunately on this occasion my Granddaughter and myself decided not to stay the night or have breakfast due to the amount of insects and moths etc in the room. Although there is a notice saying to shut the windows because of the above, the bedroom window wasn’t closed properly and our room had lots of midgies and moths in the bedroom. I know it has been unbelievably hot but it didn’t seem right to stay in a room where we would probably have been bitten through the night, so after the pool and food, and hanging around until bedtime downstairs playing draught, we decided to go home around 10.30pm - 11.00pm. Expensive few hours in the place I love going to, due to the bank holiday."

"Exceptional 3 star hotel, evening meal menu excellent value (3 courses £30) and the food was really very good. We drove with with a dog and there was no surcharges for car or pet. We could eat in the lounge area with the dog. Room was a good size and very comfortable and clean Staff were friendly and helpful We will definitely stay here again"

Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor

"We stayed one night in the deluxe suite. The suite was lovely, very spacious but I noticed some things that let it down which I wouldn’t have expected from the Celtic Manor brand such as, stain on the sofa in the living room, marks on the paint work, two lamps were not working in the living room. The bed was nice but it wasn’t a super king, it was two beds together so there was an uncomfortable ridge down the middle. There was no complimentary water in the room, only chargeable! Also, no blinds in the suite which meant as the windows were floor length, anyone outside can see straight in! The facilities were ok, the gym had the heating on in 30 degree heat which was ridiculous! The pool was very small with dirty grouting and the windows looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned in ages! The breakfast selection was ok, but the sausages, bacon, potatoes were so dry I couldn’t eat them. Overall, I think the property is slightly tired and needs some tlc… and I must say, I was astounded that were were charged for parking when it was in their property… all in all 6/10."

"The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings and we were lucky to be given a stone cottage apartment with outside decking overlooking the pond and grounds. Beautiful! The staff were all very pleasant but overstretched and and quite stressed at times. Breakfast was good but didn't run smoothly. The restaurant food and service was very good.The pool and spa were really lovely and the gym looked amazing. Don't rely on trying to get a taxi anywhere. Our main reason for staying here was to visit family for a birthday party. The hotel rang for a taxi twice and nothing turned up. We waited for a full hour and ended up having to drive. Fortunately me managed to get a taxi back but it was expensive. Lovely place to stay in , would be even better if they weren't trying to run on minimal staff . We would stay again because of the location and facilities."
