Great location, bar and bistro on site, walkable to the main attractions in the CBD .. no lift but staff offered to help with bags if I needed. Rooms are older but comfy bed, good shower and clean.

Facilities were decent for the price. Clean room, comfy bed, all the basics included ie. kettle, tea, coffee, shower essentials, fresh towels etc. Room was above the pub with live music until 10pm + drunken guests partied on a bit longer (ear plugs recommended). Pool + location made up for the sleep deprivation.

it was perfect for my stay, one night arriving late, before taking a bus for katherine. I arrive at 1am and had someone giving me the key, comfy bed, good temperature in the room, good shower, good icy water in the fridge, very close to the bus station, all I needed thank you

Poor customer service

Hotel conducted noisy cleaning work in the early hours of the morning. stayed 3 nights.. got little sleep. Hotel bar was supposed to close at 10pm, never happened, loud noisy patrons still outside near the accomodation rooms till well past 11pm.

The Cavenagh is quite a big complex of rooms above a fairly busy bar (although it’s quiet at night unless on weekends!). My room wasn’t near the bar area so it was fine but i know other people had more issues if they were closer to the front of the building. My room had a skylight but no window but otherwise was a large, clean room with good en suite and effective air con. I wasn’t using the room during the day - i was at a conference nearby - so it was the perfect return for the cost. I probably wouldn’t stay there for a romantic break but if you just need somewhere cheap, safe and clean to stay then it is great!
