The Royal Hotel is an old building. However the staff were extremely helpful and the food at Dinner and at Breakfast was very tasty.
Large room with view over the sea and pier. Old building close as you can get to the sea so plenty of interesting differences to a modern setup creating a unique character set up. Breakfast was excellent with great view of the beach sea. No issues with parking this time of year.
Great room, very spacious clean and warm. Wonderful staff from receptionist to breakfast host, couldn’t be more welcoming to me and my dog. Delicious breakfast with great choice. we will definitely stay here again.
Thank you. Martin.

The reviews for the property are generally very good but our experience was very dissapointing. Our room was large and warm but the bathroom was huge and freezing and tired with a wonky shower it had a lovely rolltop bath that my wife enjoyed. The rooms away from the sea are by a busy road and poorly soundproofed so noisy and you could here every step the person in the room above took. It was also windy so the windows banged.
Breakfast buffet was not replenished until someone complained and I had to remind staff that I had not had my toast, it felt like there was no one running the breakfast room.
Generally it was all a bit sloppy and seemed to lack good management.
Would we stay again no

A sea-view room was spacious, spotless and very well stocked. The ensuite bathroom was spacious too and offered a slipper bath & separate shower. The hotel was quiet (weeknight stay) and staffed with friendly faces. Would stay again & recommend

We arrived late afternoon and went to the bar to check in as reception was closed. I asked one member of staff if we could check in. She turned to another person and said, 'that's your check in.' Not exactly offensive, but not welcoming either.
Other than that:
The bed was big, but not hugely comfortable.
The hot tap in the sink didn't work at all, i.e. zero water.
The room was large.
Breakfast had a good selection.

Very friendly and helpful staff.
Room was fine and lots of space.
Great cooked breakfast included in the orice we weren't expecting.
Will use again when in deal!
This hotel is old which we don’t mind. It was right on the beach but our view was very limited. It was fairly clean. Everything was squeaky and noisy: the doors, the floor, the beds. The windows opened a sliver and it was really hot, no fans or any air flow. The beds were very uncomfortable. The toilet seat was the wrong size or not fitted properly and wouldn’t flush well( but that might be “English” thing). There is no free parking nearby. The check-in was good. The staff friendly. The breakfast was decent.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
A really excellent location right on the beach. The room was clean and comfortable and the bed was very comfortable too. Breakfast was good although if you aren't there at the beginning they don't replenish fruit and croissants which is not ideal as they advertise breakfast as being from 8-10. By 9 there were no croissants. The outside are is attractive although I wasn't sure why there were two layers of railings between this and the beach. The hotel could have done with a bit of updating and not all the staff seemed to be very helpful or friendly.
Had a lovely stay but the curtains are not ideal as they do not cover the windows properly. We were in a corner room so had two windows - we also had a neon sign outside so there was constant light in our room and it was misleading when we woke during the night
Breakfast was lovely - great variety
Staff very polity and helpful
Would definitely return but would bring eye mask
