"Our room was disgusting to start. There were stains on the lamps, the rug and in the bathroom. There was also previous guests clothes shoved behind the desk where the tv is. The pullout bed in the suite was also full of holes . Also— I called beforehand to speak to someone before booking to confirm they took pets. They informed me they did, and made me aware of the fee. I agreed to pay at the property. When I arrived with my family, they said they don’t allow pets and whoever said that was lying. Thankfully the night staff woman was very accommodating and let it slide since we arrived at 1 AM. Other than her, i would say our stay was absolutely terrible. I have never written a negative review about a hotel, I’m disappointed this was my first."

"Reception area and check-in needs serious improvements. Reception waiting area chairs are minimally available and desperately need replaced as they are thread bear and ripped. Not a good introduction to the facility. There was only one reception clerk managing the call desk and guest check-ins. While the person did a great job managing all activity, hotel management failed to have enough staff to provide timely service. I was frustrated that there was a $17.00 charge to park a car in an open outdoor parking lot. This was not stated when making reservations with Expedia but received a text stating this charge several days of this forth coming charge. There was insufficient time to cancel reservation and re-book. This is deception to those using Expedia and the hotel. The process to make payment was through a QR code which required the assistance of the overloaded, single threaded, stretched check-in staff member. Non-use of QR code places an unknown threat to those without cell phone capability due to non-payment as this is the only methodology provided. Due to this experience, I will not make reservations with hotels using this deceptive parking practice."

"We always stay here when we’re in St. Joseph. Staff is always welcoming and helpful. The Lodge is a unique and comfortable property. Rooms are clean and comfortable with cozy decor. Breakfast buffet has many options."

"I was disappointed with my stay at this Best Western Plus. The hotel felt somewhat dingy and not as clean or well-maintained as I expected. One of the biggest issues was a very strong curry-like odor throughout the property, including the hallways and common areas. The smell was noticeable during my entire stay and made the environment less comfortable. It also gave the impression that someone may have been living on the premises, which contributed to an overall feeling that the hotel was not being managed as professionally as it should be. While the staff was courteous, the condition and atmosphere of the hotel did not meet my expectations for a Best Western Plus."
