"This is a cracking flat within a short walk of Dumfries town centre. From the outside, the flats don’t look too inspiring, but it’s clearly been renovated recently and it’s been done really nicely. The two rooms are pretty much identical doubles, and the living room/kitchen is a good size. Nice views of the river from most rooms, and a lovely small balcony coming off the main living area. Would definitely come back if in the area."

"A unique place to stay for a night. Pet friendly staff. Attentive and courteous too. Room was spacious with decent amount of storage space , had we been staying longer. Wide choice of food for dinner. Carpet in the room where we ate maybe needed a decent hoover and the en-suite had mould spots on the ceiling. The bedroom itself self was clean and tidy. I look forward to staying again."

"The majestic old hotel might be dated to some, but there is a lot of character on show. The staff were excellent, even during storm Boelo when there were power issues and access difficulties with fallen trees. They quietly put on free tea and coffee for stranded guests waiting for the road to reopen. Evening meal was excellent, fish and chips excellent again. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, lots of good options, fresh scrambled egg, but sausages let it down as none of us could determine any flavour to them. Bedrooms in the garden wing are dated, but great if you want a bath. Beds as always were massive and gave excellent support."

"It was amazingly good I wasn't expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised we had a lake view with the balcony it really was out of this world to sit there in the morning watching the ducks on the lake parking was good staff was very friendly room was clean and the WiFi was a good.bonus kept the other half and kids happy thank you so much for the warm welcome"

"Booking a room with a Seaview is a must when staying here...we only had dinner and breakfast twice , really enjoyed what he had, the buffet breakfast being hot was bonus too ..young girl Olivia is an asset to the place and couldn't help us enough...we will definitely be back x"

"Lovely location with great views over Portpatrick. It was such a wet day and we were delighted when we were able to have our room a little bit earlier than the check in time of 3pm, even more so, when our room was upgraded to a balcony room. As soon as you enter the hotel you are stunned by the terrific view over Portpatrick at the reception and then again from our lovely, bright spacious and very clean bedroom. Loved having the bath and powerful shower. We enjoyed a drink in the comfortable lounge before going for a walk. We enjoyed our dinner, pate, chicken and mushroom pie and fish and chips. The breakfast next morning was even better with the added addition of fresh fruit salad to the selection of cereals etc. My husband had the Fernhill Grill and I had the Eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked to perfection! Staff all very pleasant. Thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay and would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you."
