The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't shut down our eagerness for exploring. Here are some tips on how to handle travel's new challenges:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
• You're required to wear a face mask at the airport, including at security checkpoints. You should be prepared to lower your mask for ID verification when asked by a TSA employee.
• To avoid cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee.
• You can now take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. You'll have to remove it for screening.
• Place any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during the screening process.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
