"We had a great time on the beach in Montanita staying at the Kundalini. The grounds were lovely. We especially liked the private shady beach area, where you could order drinks from the bar and where your stuff would be safe while you played in the surf. The breakfasts were nice. The shower was hot. The AC worked. The bed was comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. Free coffee in the lobby before the restaurant opened for breakfast. We loved sleeping with the door to the balcony open and hearing the surf all night.
There is an (I guess) nicer hotel on the beach a bit closer to the town, but I would not want to stay there because there is a club in town that pounds music very loudly all night and into the next day, and I am sure it can be a problem for some people trying to sleep or enjoy the sound of the ocean. Kundalini is just far enough away to not hear the pounding. And it's not like Kundalini is not nice. It is very nice. And still close to town, a short walk down the beach.
Two small quibbles: There is no dresser drawers or closet, any least in the junior suite, so one has to live out of one's suitcase, which is not my favorite thing, though there is a counter for the suitcases. And, there were some straws and lime slices from someone's drinks the day before on the ground near our lounges in the private beach area on our first day there, which was not so pleasant to have to walk through and see. But otherwise the grounds were immaculate."
