"The beds were rock hard and felt like sleeping on concrete and overall extremely uncomfortable (and I like firm beds). Also, the staff was not flexible with early check in before 3pm so we had to sit and wait 45 minutes even though rooms were empty and clean, despite checking with 3 different staff members in case lost in translation. On the positive front the location is right at the train station and very convenient with shops and food nearby."

"Breakfast menu for westerners are very limited.. Big room and location is good. Few blocks from lake, Restaurants and Shops. Short drive to the Oirase Gorge. Very convenient."

"The room was clean and spacious. Excellent location for dining and shopping. Nearby area had many Sakura trees. Walking distance 30 min to Hirosaki Castle and Hirosaki Park with access to shopping and clubs. Steps to buses to the castle and park. We would stay there again "

"We had a wonderful stay at Ishiba Ryokan. The owner, a ninth-generation descendant of a samurai family, shared fascinating stories that brought the ryokan’s rich history to life. As a designated cultural heritage property, it truly feels like stepping back in time. The location is ideal, just a short distance from the famous castle, and the atmosphere is calm, understated, and deeply tranquil. The owner speaks excellent English and was incredibly welcoming and engaging to talk with. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning."

"A nice cozy hotel next to Hirosaki station. Breakfast buffet has a lot of delicious options to choose from. It's also in a good area, with lots of good restaurants nearby. "

"Such a wonderful stay again. The best thing about this hotel for me is the all you can eat breakfast in which they serve local famous ingredients like tomburi & nagaimo, Hinai-jidori tsumire meat ball. Location is another thing I like. From here, you can enjoy a little walk around the Keijo Park, visit Akita-inu museum and appreciate the gorgeous view of Mt. Ho-o alongside Nagaki river. Come experience all this and you'll definitely love it."
