Thor's Well on the Oregon coast appears to be the end of the earth. Also known as the drainpipe of the Pacific, the well is actually a hole in the rock that only appears to drain water from the ocean. In reality the huge hole is likely only around 10 meters deep. Even if the well is not quite as magic as it seems, it still manages to produce amazing sights, though not for the faint of heart!.

The site is most spectacular at high tide when the water washes violently over the rocks and funnels into the hole. I arrived here just before sunset and as I made my way down to the spot I saw small group of photographers standing on a rock right in front of the hole with their tripods already setup and taking photos. I managed to squeeze myself between a couple of photographers and began shooting however it wasn't long before the waves got higher and eventually swept up onto the rock we were all standing on, soaking our feet. We would have easily been swept away by the torrent had it not been for the rock we were all standing on. The sky was stormy and as the sun set over the horizon the colour in the sky turned a beautiful orange glow , perfect.

"This place deserves more than 5 stars. We visited Lincoln City for two nights before New Year’s Eve without planning and Inn at Wecoma was among first choices for affordable pricing. We got room 310 (city view) and it was super clean, with comfortable queen beds. Heated pool and hot tub made the stay even more enjoyable (Sidenote: if you are an adult and want to enjoy pool and hot tub without kids, 10pm - 12am are th hours) And to top it off, hot breakfast in the morning? Yes sir. Every evening, we walked to the beach and the walk itself was super nice and enjoyable. There are two beach access points nearby, consider checking out both. My family was 100% satisfied with the stay and now I think I may make it a tradition to come here at the end of each year"
