"The listing failed to state that an expensive cleaning fee would apply and we were advised of this by the hotel after the cancellation period had ended. This was challenged but the hotel continued to insist that it needed to be paid and that it was advised (despite it not being in the listing or the confirmation email). "The hotel is ideally located if you are planning to visit the Zandvoort motor racing circuit which is literally across the road. The hotel is located really close to the long sandy beach and about a 20 minute walk from the train station. One evening I had a meal in the bar / restaurant, entrecote steak with fries and vegetables, which was very good. My room was fine but not brilliant. Twin beds pushed together to make a double, a safe and a large tv with seven UK channels and plenty of european channels. There is wi-fi in the room which I could connect my mobile to, however I was unable to get it to work on my tablet. There was a Tassimo coffee machine, electric kettle and a small refrigerator. The bathroom had a shower over the bath. I found that when I took a shower the shower screen did not stop water from going all over the bathroom floor, very annoying. To sum up, If you want to stay as close as possible to the race track and you don't mind your room being just okay then this hotel is ideal. If you intend to stay in your room for any length of time during your stay I would suggest looking for another hotel closer to the town centre which may be more luxurious and more convenient for the bars and restaurants. Would I stay here again? Yeah, probably. I've come to watch the motor racing at the Zandvoort circuit a few times but I doubt I would visit here just for a holiday."

"First experience with a smart hotel room. Stayed three nights and still found that we could not completely figure out the electronic parts. Lights in bathroom would shut off when in the bath relaxing and trying to read a book (had to stand to reactivate them which was annoying) and room blinds/lights would randomly open/close at times (still can’t figure out why). Laundry facilities are limited access - only available when reception is manned. Location was excellent!!! Close to beach, food options and the train station!! Would stay at again."

"The room was small with just a bed and a couple of hard kitchen chairs to sit on. It would be nice to have one more lounging chair to make it feel more comfortable. Good for one person, might be tight for two for a few days. There were basic supplies in a newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. Great water pressure! You could see the ocean between the buildings across the alley. You could see the sunset perfectly in April, not sure how that might change at different times of year. Conveniently located near the beach, shopping and centrum."

"The staff were friendly and helpful. It appears that Pension Blankebil has many buildings/rooms. Our room was quite clean, however the room had a musty odor that did not dissipate. The shower would overflow and flood the bathroom if your shower was more than a couple of minutes long. However the water was very hot and had great pressure. The beds were comfortable with extremely lumpy pillows. The location was very good - a few minutes walk to the beach, grocery store or town centre."
