"My wife Ella, two friends and I recently stayed at Hotel Carlina for our September late-summer break in La Clusaz. Overall, it is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location, though there were a few minor details that make it a 4/5 for us.
The classic timber chalet vibe is spot on, and the panoramic views across the mountains are brilliant. We also loved having the indoor pool to unwind in after a long day out.
When it came to the breakfast buffet, it was decent, but it is worth noting that there is not much choice if you require gluten-free options. (GF crackers) We made good use of the egg-boiling machine to make ourselves fresh boiled eggs each morning, which was a nice touch. We also requested gluten-free oat milk, which they happily provided all week, but unfortunately, they ran out on our final day and didn't replace it.
The rooms themselves were cosy and clean, but a quick warning for taller guests: the beds are bang on 6 ft long, which meant my feet were hanging out the bottom!
Despite the short beds and the slight breakfast niggle at the end, it remains a nice, authentic hotel with incredibly friendly staff. We would happily return."
