The front desk at the Sheraton check-in desk made a great display of giving us a "great room", not mentioning a word about the pounding bass that would be vibrating the full balcony windows after we returned from the terrace after watching the match ending at about 11:30 pm
We came back to our room just before midnight, not terribly worried about the noise level, as we surmised that the music would go off at midnight, typically of entertainment venues situated on the grounds of a hotel.
But then we saw the note in the room, stating "you will be disturbed" until 3 am!
The nature of hospitality, as we all know, is to "take care of our guests"; "be memorable hosts"; and take pride in those essential cornerstones of our profession.
While we were accommodated with a room change after making a bit of a fuss at the front desk, it was a very unpleasant and stressful way to wind up our stay in Qatar. And certainly, for the price of $1400 for a room, a peaceful atmosphere should be guaranteed.
May we suggest that you consider the comfort and well being of EVERY guest, during the FIFA World Cup, and WHENEVER they visit. Guests are the CORE of your existence, far more important than the fleeting enjoyment experienced by clients at a temporary music festival.
