"This is a beautiful property but I do not recommend booking through Expedia or any third party websites. Customers who book directly from their website get first dibs on booking. The check in process took almost two hours because they overbooked and the only room they had available was a king bed for four adults. They tried calling nearby hotels but according to the Meritage staff the hotels were booked. However, when I called the other properties there had rooms available. That’s when Meritage miraculously had a two queen available. Also shuttle services to downtown Napa is advertised but the driver is not always there so you will have to take an uber. We asked for water and the staff said there is water in the room, when we didn’t even have a room. This was highly disappointing, we came to celebrate my sister’s birthday but spent the afternoon in the lobby. I would’ve understood if the hotel communicated that they overbooked even an hour before we arrived to Napa but even there were no such texts/emails."

"Front desk was efficient but not super warm or welcoming. Room and balcony was clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Housekeeping was very efficient. Nespresso machine was a plus. We would book another stay. "

"The property was better than we imagined. I brought my wife to Napa for the first time to celebrate her 50th birthday. I let the concierge know in advance and they really took care of us with a room upgrade, wine and bubbles with strawberries along with a handwritten note wishing her a happy birthday. The property was really nice and clean and the staff was fantastic. They have a nice pool, courtyards with games, a nice bar and restaurant. It is also conveniently located across the street from the vine trail and between downtown Napa, St. Helana and Calistoga. If you are thinking about staying here, go for it. You won't be disappointed."

"Check-in not well-organized, despite the 5 hours that the hotel allows itself (between check-out and check-in times). Our party arrived at 1. We were told we’d receive a call when the rooms were ready, and to go straight to the front of the line. By 4 pm no call yet, so we went and there were lots of people trying to check in and getting their card keys immediately. We went to the straight of one line and asked if the keys for our party were ready, since they were apparently freely handing out keys. The woman we addressed (leftmost counter slot, as seen by guests, 4 pm on March 28) hardly deigned to answer, so we had to get in line. When we got to the front of the line, our keys weren’t ready but the clerk there did his best to code the keys quickly. The Reception at the Grand Meritage, which is where our booking was, was closed, so upon earlier arrival at 1 pm we had to go across the street to the Meritage. Even though I had booked the 3 rooms under my Expedia account, the clerk required me to provide a card THREE TIMES, each time inserting the card, signing a signature, and so forth. All of these are unnecessary annoyances to guests, and reflect poorly on management."
