While I eventually ended up in a good room, getting around the property was a complete nightmare.
The hotel is NOT ideal for a one-night stay. When you don’t quite have your bearings, one has to rely on carts driven by a skeletal staff, with a 40 -minute wait time to move around.
I was initially checked into a room with a strong smell of sewage - the porter informed me the that the smell was normal, before turning and closing the door behind him. When I insisted on being moved, I was left (stranded!) to wait for over 1 hour! The following day, it then took me over an hour to check out because - yet again - I was left waiting (stranded!) for a porter to arrive despite receiving several assurances that someone was on the way.
On top of this, I struggled to place my breakfast order because the sound quality was poor over the phone and the person on the other end could not understand my order, which was frustrating.
That said, I love the concept of the hotel and its historic/rustic feel. Sadly, the service and execution leaves much to be desired. I don’t think I would stay there again - it was too much of an inconvenience for a one-night stay after a 6-hour flight.
I DO NOT recommend this place.
