Well, the Castlereagh will be my regular "stopover" place in Dubbo from now on, and that's a pretty good commendation in itself. The broken air vent in the ceiling of my room - #21 - was a bit unsightly, and should perhaps be fixed, but we can't expect luxury at "pubstay" prices, and the wide and welcoming balcony, where we can sit out with a coffee or a beer, watching the life of the town below, is a terrific "plus". Thanks, guys.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Good room
Nearly renovated
Shower leaks.
Generous coffee and tea supplies
Fridge and TV in room
Microwave in tea/coffee room
Table and chairs for dining.
Great surround balcony to sit out
Helpful and friendly staff.
Very nice and comfortable place to stay Central location at a great price. Room was cosy, had a small fridge and Tv. Room was very clean with fresh linen and towel and soap was also provided. Will definitely be going back to stay again in the future.
An old country pub offering cheap no frills accommodation on a road trip. Perfect for what I was after, a lace to crash for the night prior to heading off early the next morning, staff friendly, facilities ok.
Small, basic but ok. Comfy bed, clean linen and towels. The door onto the verandah was a bonus.
Took me back to last century and visits to country towns.
What a terribley unsafe place to stay at.
Do not stay here.
Drive further if you have to to avoid this place, at all costs.
However the food was really good, so stop by all means but after the meal, drive on.

Carpet was not clean. Dining downstairs was great!
5 Stars all round, please understand you do need to rate based on what you pay. This was under $100 per night, at this rate all I expect is a room with a bed. So when you get TV, Bar Fridge, shared kitchen facilities, a downstairs restaurant and bar, free parking and the most helpful and friendly staff in the central west, the Castlereagh Hotel is an absolute banger. 110% Recomend
The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was so small and depressing. The bathroom was gross. I feel sorry fir the lovely staff. Can a pub ruin a roadt? The answer is yes. The chef must not like vegetables, they were cold and watery. Such a shame.
It was a Saturday night. The room was good, but the loud doof doof music went to at least midnight. No good for anyone who does not enjoy thump thump music thru the pillow.
charming old world hotel with character. hotel staff were friendly and helpful. restaurant food was excellent. facilities are dated by nature of the building’s history (this didn’t bother me but might others). huge shared balcony between rooms is a big plus. overall i loved my stay here, highly recommend to those travelling to dubbo on a budget
