The pub is fantastic, one of the best we visited in Dublin! The room was clean and very nice. The staff were very nice as well. I’m giving it 2/5 stars because we had no hot water (shower) for 3 days, and upon trying to get it resolved, nobody helped or did anything. Otherwise, it would have been a good stay.

Hi Pierre, Thank you for review. I see you marked us 4 out of 10, we are saddened by your low score but as you have left no comments we are none the wiser to where our downfalls were. We do hope your stay wasn't too bad and we might see you again. Kind Regards, The O'Brien's at The Ferryman

Great No Frills Stay in the heart of Dublin!
If you're looking for a comfortable, conveniently located place to sleep and shower, The Ferryman fits the bill. The bed was comfortable, water pressure was amazing, and staying above a pub is an experience! For the record, it's probably not for everyone but we're easy-going travelers; not bothered by the noise of the street or pub and not needing any special services. We received fresh towels daily and there was some shower gel, but you'll need your own shampoo. There was a kettle and tea/coffee in the room but we found several great local coffee shops nearby. We had a great 5-night stay in Dublin.

Loved this place. HOWEVER, keep in mind that this is first and foremost, a PUB. The rooms are above a very lively and loud pub. So this was fun, except when we wanted to get some food rest at 11pm. The noise is unavoidable till about 1am, so make sure to bring ear plugs. Also, to Check-in, you must literally go to the bartender to get your keys etc. Overall, a great location with stunning view of the rivers, bridges, etc. Would stay here again, WITH EAR PLUGS

The property was within walking distance of all the major tourist areas. Only met property people on the day we areived and the day we left. Room was nice and clean. Room was serviced once for making beds over 4 days but bathroom was serviced every day for new towels. While this property is soundproof from the pub, it is very noisey when 100 pub patrons are enjoying themselves outside and the windows are all open on the second floor pub lounge.

Very good location, historical building, and a popular pub down stairs, good or bad. However, almost no services... No bottle water in room, if one needs drinking water, has to buy from the pub downstair, costing 3.25Euro a small bottle. Also no one to clean your room other than just providing clean towels and toilet papers. In addition, it is very difficult to take shower, bad design and constructed. Dublin is a very lovely city, friendly, vibrate, can drink almost anywhere. We loved our walking tour in the city, fantastic!

We had so much fun staying here! It’s an authentic Irish pub so prepare for some noise and there’s no AC so it’s pretty warm in summer. The staff in the pub were so lovely. Great area to be in, lots close by. Dublin is very walkable and bikeable.

On an earlier visit to Dublin, my friends and I had discovered The Ferryman and made it our “local” during our time in the city. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, mainly locals, close to Avida Stadium and across the Liffey from the convention center. Just an unpretentious Irish pub. When we decided to return with my 16 year old son, I instantly booked here, as the price was great and I had great memories. As a place to stay, it works great. Lots of carousing at night downstairs and there is quite a walk to the sights in town, but walking is part of the experience (and we got to walk off a lot of food!). Jill and the staff were very friendly, tea kettle in room was always ready to go. Room Is very basic but a true pub staying experience. If you are okay with walking a bit to get to Temple Bar or O’Connell Street, I cannot recommend The Ferryman highly enough!

The hotel is slightly outside the city center, but it is close to airport bus routes and even the Hop-On Hop-Off bus for sightseeing. The room was on the smaller side but comfortable, and the vibrant and lively bar downstairs could not be heard from my room (which was on the lowest level of guest rooms).

Basic value for money.
This is very basic accommodation over a very famous and well run traditional pub. The location is perfect, near the 3 arena, National Conference Centre and Silicon Docks. It is good value but for a few dollars more you can get a lot more comfort. I did not have the breakfast but I can guess that it will be good. Dublin is expensive and if you don't need to be pampered, this is a good option.

Surprisingly well done.
This is actually a pub that has taken the upstairs space and converted it into a small hotel. The rooms are very small but overall it's not bad for the money. Issues: several floors and no elevator, breakfast starts way too late (7:30 and 8:00 on weekends). The shower is ridiculously small even by European standards and very hard to use. There is no shelf, ledge, or amenity tray, which could be easily provided, so you have to stand in the shower, bath yourself, and also hold soap, shampoo, razor, etc. If you try to put these items on floor of the shower, you have to bend over and pick them up repeatedly. Horizontally challenged and some who are not, like me, will find it almost impossible. Management: Please spend a few euros and add one of these things that hangs from the shower head that you can put your stuff in. Also, if you have a problem at night, you'd have to go down to the pub and that would be difficult as there might 100 people in that small room. On the plus side: there are plenty of electrical outlets, normally a problem even in five-star hotels. Also, the location is great. You're just a few minutes from the airport bus stop. The wi-fi is very fast. The breakfast is a traditional Irish breakfast (eggs, sausage, toast, blood sausage, etc.) I wouldn't stay more than a few days, but you can tolerate it for its advantages..

The Ferryman was great, the price was good, the location great, the room was good for "above an old pub". It's no Four Seasons, but it's a pub, so with adjusted expectations it was great. And the staff was wonderful

The location is good and within walking distance to most everything. Pub downstairs is great! My biggest complaint is the condition of the bathroom. The shower was very small and the tile was full of grime which made for a bad experience. There was no shelving space or counter space at all as vanity was just a small pedestal. Water pressure of the sink was also very poor. Toilet was very loud. In sum, bathroom needs major upgrade. Room generally was ok and king size bed was nice, just again, all very outdated, but room and bedding appeared clean.

This is a very nice hotel right on the river Liffey. The hotel staff members are wonderfully helpful and friendly. The included daily breakfast was very good. Something to keep in mind is that there is no elevator in the hotel and our room was on the 3rd floor. The room itself was a little stuffy at times but usually remedied with opening a window. We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint, comfortable, and affordable location.

Good location for convention center, ok breakfast
I don’t know that I would recommend this place to another business traveler, but it’s in the middle of a businessy area. It’s also close to a theater and arena, so maybe that’s more their clientele. My husband and I stayed here while I was at a conference. There was no desk to work at but the Internet was reliable. The bed was two pushed together single beds, which is weird. There’s no bathtub, but the shower was a decent size and very clean. Breakfast was a bit over cooked (if you like your yolks runny, maybe ask for them scrambled instead), no white pudding, but the best, mildest black pudding of the trip. The bar was loud until closing, but we could fall asleep—it didn’t sound like it was in your room but probably not best for light sleepers. Overall it was ok, decent value for money and unbeatable location for the convention center.

Reasonable but room for improvement
The Ferryman is located on the banks of the River Liffey and I could see the iconic Samuel Beckett Bridge from my bedroom window, which was a nice view and also a very handy landmark visitors such as myself who have a diabolical sense of direction!! The room was a little on the small side, and the TV was a bit high up to be of use to a short-sighted guest like myself. In fairness, I hadn’t travelled all that way to watch telly: it’s a general observation. It is a beautiful old building and perhaps planning rules affect the size of the room? My only gripe is that on my one full day I had to ask twice for my coffee-making supplies to be topped up, and the first time it wasn’t very busy. Offsetting that was the help they gave me in getting a cab to the bus station and trying to reunite me with forgotten property! Which was a case of ABCD (Above And Beyond The Call of Duty). 7 out 10 .

i was greeted with warmth and friendliness immediately I checked in. I had an extremely late check in which I was assured was no problem at all. my single room was quiet, clean and had everything you could wish for. the staff were extraordinarily friendly to giving directions, calling taxis, carrying my bag. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the coffee was plentiful and warm. I was there on my own for a training course and felt welcome and safe throughout my stay. So much so that I am booking again for my return journey in November.

Great accommodation
Very quiet in rooms (and they are right on top of the pub); very central location in Dublin. Super eclectic hotel, very kind and considerate staff. Not the flashiest accommodations, and there is a "pub" smell in the hallways leading up the hotel- but the smell is not in the hallways near the rooms or the rooms themselves. All together a great deal, would definitely stay there again.

Great for what it is: old world hotel over pub.
Rooms are tiny but to be expected for this type of pub/hotel. It was hot in the room but again most European hotels don’t have a/c. A fan of some type would have been a huge help. The bathroom door didn’t close, the shower overflowed if you took longer than 5 minutes literally. But the beds were comfortable and the location is perfect.

Great Location
The hotel was in a great location but the amenities were not what I expected. It wasn't a bad experience just mediocre and the hotel is run from the bar. The staff seemed overworked from running the bar but overall the room was nice. I do wish that the room was cleaner as I did find hair and other things in my room from prior guests but nothing too detrimental. Was a great base of operations for Dublin though and very convenient with the airport buses.
