A great choice for a round any day of the week when staying in Belfast, Dunmurry Golf Club is only a 10-minute drive from the city centre, superbly convenient just off the M1. Founded back in 1905, the club has a proud history, with many well-known victories. Residing on Dunmurry Lane since 1983, when road improvements forced the club to uproot from its previous course a mile or so away, both the present course and clubhouse have won awards.
The course is blessed with a profoundly attractive parkland setting, with leafy trees and the nearby River Lagan, and a par of 70 offers a healthy challenge. An on-course dress code applies to all golfers this includes the removal of headgear in the clubhouse, which sits just 50 yards from the 18th hole and offers drinks and a broad selection of hot meals and snacks. Here you’ll also find the pro shop, which contains an extensive range of brand-name equipment and clothing, and provides club repair and customisation as well as lessons. Greens fees are very reasonable, but visitors are advised to check availability for tee-off times before arrival.
Keep an eye out as you go for the club badge, the Barbour coat of arms, in honour of a long-serving president and one of Dunmurry Golf Club’s founding members. Simply one of the finest golf clubs in County Antrim, a visit for nine or 18 holes is highly recommended when visiting Belfast.
