Best Western Plus Kingston Hotel And Conference Center
6/10 Okay
"Pros: Rooms were clean.
Cons: I had 3 rooms booked for a bowling tournament at a bowling alley that the hotel owner, owns. Show up at 1:30, early, I know, fire trucks there. Fire alarm. No big deal. Go back at 2:30, go through the whole check in process only to be told I’d be charged $75 to check in a half hour early. Go back at 3:30. 12 people in line to check in. Computers down. Can’t check anyone in. Go to their bar to wait. $11 bottle of beer. Still nothing. Go back at 5:30 and able to check in. Nothing offered. Absolutely unacceptable. Will never go back. There’s another hotel next door and it can’t be this bad at customer service."
Inn at Bellefield / Hyde Park, Residence Inn by Marriott
8/10 Good
"It was nice and new, large room and clean. We ate dinner at the bar. Ordered the steak it was terrible and got the carrot appetizer the bartender raved about, it was terrible as well. Breakfast was very good and the staff was welcoming. Not much around the hotel for other dinning or entertainment options. You’d have to drive."
"The inn could use some freshening up. Room carpet was stained in multiple places, for example, and the building badly needs to be repainted on the outside. Guests should be told when booking that their room will be on the third floor in case stairs are an issue. It’s a charming, historic building in a great location but it looks a little rundown. "
"I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. I paid over $500 for two rooms for two days, expecting at minimum a clean and safe place to stay. I checked in around 7 PM, grabbed my keys, and went straight to work without even looking at the room. When I returned around 5:30 AM, I discovered the room had bed bugs.
This is completely unacceptable. Cleanliness and pest control should be the most basic responsibility of any hotel. To make matters worse, after bringing this serious issue to management, they refused to give me a refund. Charging guests premium prices for infested rooms and then refusing to make it right is terrible business practice.
I would strongly warn anyone considering staying here to think twice. Save your money, save yourself the stress, and stay somewhere that actually cares about cleanliness and customer service."
"Rooms were gorgeous, we stayed in a king suite. The property has several condo type houses with several units. Everything was literally in town yet felt surrounded by trees and a waterfall.
Beds incredibly comfy. Stylish overall. We loved the free candies in the afternoon, s’mores packs for the fire pits, and complimentary rich coffee every morning."
