"Great place for a weekend away for a couple. Lucy and other staff members were very welcoming and accommodating. Lift was very slow but other than that the lobby and building were great. "

Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh
4/10 Poor
"We stayed one night at the Leonardo. We booked it for our last day/night in Edinburgh after a lovely tour of the Highlands. We booked there as it was in still close to the Royal Mile but its location made it easier easier to get a taxi to the airport after turning in our rental. 1. When we checked in we were informed our room was actually in the next building. We were told we could take the regular elevator or walk through a connected hallway on the ground level and take another elevator that served those rooms. We tried to take the first elevator. We couldn’t stop on the 4th floor where our room was. So, after several rides up and down, that opened up on other floors we got out and trekked down the “ hallway to the other elevator. The hallway was stark white. There was a grumpy man painting and it smelled terrible. We passed some restrooms and I think the smell was coming from there. It permeated the hallway. When we found the small elevator that serviced these other rooms, we made it to the "

YOTEL Edinburgh
8/10 Good
"The room was clean, with comfortable twin beds. The toilet, shower and basin were all separate which was useful. Although this was a 'premium' room, there was virtually no storage except for a small hanging space. No fridge and the 'cool cupboard', which has no adjustable temperature control, says 'not suitable for food' so I am not sure what it is for! There is no kettle but free tea and coffee is available in the bar, which no-one tells you about so I didn't find it for 24 hours.
The staff were all very friendly except for one: If you opt not to have your room cleaned, you have £5 credit in the bar. However I was very angry because when I asked about this after a day, I was assured that I could save it until the following day but, when I went the next day, the barman refused to honour this promise so I lost that credit.
The breakfast is good with everything you would expect except that there was only fruit yoghurt on our 3 mornings, no natural, unsweetened."
