"The room was modern, clean and spacious. It was a good location and the staff were very friendly. It is not advisable to leave the window open while sleeping as it is noisy outside but the windows are fairly soundproof. We could hear the guests in the room above walking around which was no ideal but I think that would happen in any room."

"If this isnโ€™t the most expensive place in town, it must be pretty close. We were lucky, we feel, to get a room in the modern extension. It was a corner room and remarkable. The girl at the front desk tried to upgrade us for money and with her accent I couldnโ€™t quite understand what the benefit to a different room would have been. It is hard for me to imagine a bedroom at this hotel. We used the spa and it is quite lovely and recently redone. However, a few of the features were not in operation, which was only slightly disappointing. I had a massage that was quite average, unfortunately. Iโ€™m glad I booked it with the hot stones. Otherwise I wouldโ€™ve felt the benefit was not worth the money. I wasnโ€™t expecting a sports massage, but this was too light to touch for my tastes. The restaurants and bars are all good to go. The hotel is on the โ€œotherโ€ side of the river and I am of the belief this made for a quieter stay. You are a 10-15 minute walk from the center of the action. Nigel at the concierge was a top man."

"Really lovely stay. Own car park (need to pay, but welcomed as next to hotel!) Good for couples, friends or families. Lovely walk into York centre by the river. We booked for short walk to Barbican & it was perfect for this. Great large bedroom, spotless Great bar, excellent breakfast with everything you could want. Friendly, professional & efficient staff. No issues whatsoever"
