Creswell Model Village Built in 1896 to house workers at Creswell Colliery, the village consists of a double ring of houses, separated by a service road, around a large green in the form of an extended octagon. The houses are built in a variety of different designs. After a period of decline from the 1980s, the village has been turned round with the help of an active residents' Association and a large Heritage Lottery Fund award.

Railway Bridge. This bridge carries the Robin Hood Line over the A616 at Creswell. Despite the high visibility stripe and an early warning device over the road on the approach to the bridge it is still hit by high vehicles occasionally. A number of years ago four people were killed here in such circumstances.

Mystery tour at Elmton & Creswell Junction, 1969 The "Flying Scotsman" pauses for water and the passengers take a look around. Unlikely to happen these days. The mystery train started from St Pancras and ended up at Cleethorpes considerably late, where the locomotive was declared a failure with a leaking steam pipe in the smokebox.

Staff were friendly and helpful, dinner delicious, and gluten free porridge available at breakfast. Our room was spacious and clean although dated. The bathroom was exceptionally cold sadly. Otherwise a pleasant stay in lovely grounds and a beautiful historic building.
