"This hotel was a last minute choice. Let's start with a postive. Linens were clean and no bed bugs. Also, the carpet wasn't sticky when i took my shoes off to get into bed. Now to the rest. When you walk in it smells like grease. Like kitchen grease. The bar sign says it opens at 11am but it doesnt open till 5pm. No, I'm not trying to be at the bar at 11am but I enjoy having that chill atmosphere after the 3pm check in. This is not the place that will ever happen (we did end up going) 2nd, the room, the room had a moldy smell when we walked in. The ac unit was on 75 so we turned it to 65. Not because we like it cold but it helped refresh the musty smell. Yes, they have done a remodel, but it is the typical remodel of an old property. Basically, slap some paint on a pig. I could go in to more detail but basically to sum it up.. this is a place that locals rent a room to use the indoor pool. Have bday parties here. One cool thing is the fact they have a game room. There were parties happening in several rooms Definitely some "smoking" in rooms. Kids running/racing up and down the halls all night. Lastly, you will get lost at this place. Very poor signage unless you are trying to get to the 1st floor via the stairs. The 2nd floor is the main floor. I will never stay here again, just the pungent smell from the Indian restaurant located in there, and the greasy food smell from the bar food menu with a topping of the old hotel musty smell going on."

"A throwback to the classic Hollywood hotels seen only in 1940s & 1950s movies, with gorgeous dining rooms & ballrooms, spacious rooms tastefully furnished with antiques, a staff eager to help, a British pub-like bar, mixologists moonlighting as bartenders with stories to tell, and wall of photographs highlighting the many rich & famous guests. And the best room service breakfast in bed at a reasonable price."
