From start to finish, the experience exceeded every expectation. The property is stunning — lush, modern, and perfectly designed for both relaxation and luxury. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel truly special throughout my stay. Every interaction was kind, attentive, and genuine. The food was delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented at every meal. My room was spotless and elegant, cleaned thoroughly every day with attention to detail. The atmosphere across the resort was serene and inviting, ideal for unwinding and celebrating. It was everything and more than I could have hoped for. I sincerely enjoyed my birthday trip and would highly recommend El Mangroove to anyone looking for an unforgettable stay in the Papagayo Peninsula. "

"Everything stood out for me: All staff were incredibly happy and helpful. The property is a boutique hotel located on Playa Hermosa beach (perfect waves for kids without getting thrashed around). The rooms are meticulously kept, the pool is surrounded by lush tropical greenery with a troop of howler monkeys that call it home. This property is also perfect for those who require a levelled hotel with no inclines. It took 10 seconds to the pool, 10 seconds to reception & restaurant, and 10 seconds to the beach. This property is best for those looking to unwind and relax, even with kids. There is no swim up bar so it’s not suited for parties. The staff were happy to deliver food and drinks no matter where we were located. An absolute gem! "

"Great property! You get to relax and stay in nature but with all the luxury amenities. The property does a great job of having constant transportation available to move around the grounds since it’s so big. Loved our room and the quiet pool area was very relaxing with beautiful views of the ocean. All meals were great! Favorite restaurants were Aqua and Portofino. We also loved their buffet and that it had authentic Costa Rican food as options. As for the staff they are all top notch. Everyone we encountered was super friendly, offered great service and always helpful. A huge shout out to Andre who really provided excellent service the days we laid out by the beach. "

"Loved the staff. The room was comfortable. The views from the resort are some of the most beautiful views we’ve seen in our lives. We loved enjoying the awesome and friendly wildlife. The attention to detail was another level. To finish off our trip we enjoyed a super relaxing spa day. Will definitely come back again. Costa Rica is truly PURA VIDA!!!"

"Such a lovely place. Low season and we had it almost all to ourselves. All the staff so friendly and attentive - Andrea, Sergio, Daniela - we felt like we were family - they greeted us by name, knew what wanted to drink with breakfast (which is included!), were ready to take care of whatever we needed. Food good - although a little pricey, but that is what you expect at a nice resort. There are a couple of places you can walk to (did for one lunch), but mainly just ate at their nice outdoor restaurant (has an air-conditioned section if you like, but we found al fresco rather enjoyable). Paddleboards and kayaks for a modest fee (we did the latter). Decent beach you can walk for a couple miles on, without much in the way of waves so easy to swim. And nice and warm water (late Sept). Howler monkeys, iguanas and birds galore all right there. And beautiful gardens. If you want to do a tour, while you are there, go with Freddy - he is amazing, particularly if you like wildlife. Did his rainforest and volcano tour - amazing and learned so much. His assistant Meme will get you set up. Pura Vida!"
