"The apartment is spacious, bright, comfortable and clean. However, something could be better: the walls were stained, only three chairs but one was broken, washing machine was out of order, no wall clothes rack and few dishes and cutlery. Good position in a quiet neighbourhood, not so far to the centre, very useful parking behind the building and shops nearly."

"Very nice spacious apartment
Lovely views and great location
Car park is very small and tight
Above a pub so can be noisy
The pubs kitchen fan is on the balcony which is quite loud so not a very peaceful sit on the balcony
Lots of kitchen essentials and games
Comfy beds!"

"Apartment was really nice. Clean, great views, comfortable beds, fresh milk in the fridge. Unfortunately we were greeted by a very rude man who made the check in process very awkward which was a great start. "

"Needlessly complicated check in process - why did I have to supply my ID? There is no UK legal requirement for this and most places don't do it. The booking app has my details if anything goes wrong. My room (6) was in a dark lower basement, not listed as such. I asked for upstairs room which was available but it did not have a cooking stove. Decor bit naff but place was essentially clean and comfortable with proper bedside tables, and reading lights. There was an issue with the hob which I...

"Everything was spot on: clean, well maintained, well equipped kitchen. There was a beautiful garden to use too. The hosts, Jon and Sara were lovely with plenty of helpful hints, advice and general information. I would certainly recommend!"

"The advert on the hotels.com website did not match the facts of the stay. The advert states free parking it was not it cost me £30 for the stay. We spoke to the owner who stated that the advert was not placed by him. It was the fault of hotels.com as he does not use them you get your info from a 3rd party All I know is that I am £30 out of pocket. The stay was good as I can not blame hotels.com for all the rain."

"We had booked a double room with a sea-view. On arrival we were disappointed with the room as the bed was only a standard double size, which few hotels have these days and which was not clear to us when booking (though perhaps we assumed wrongly). This room was also a bit small for our taste and expectations, and it wasn't even the smallest size we could have booked (which would have been the "cozy double") so I can't image how "cozy" that would be. Annaya on reception was very patient with us and helpful in upgrading us to a larger room (at a price). And once we had upgraded we were very happy with the room and the view.
The hotel has an aura of internal grandeur consistent with some of its celebrated past guests but is perhaps showing its age in terms of its exterior decor. It is only a short walk from the buzz of Torquay harbour.
The breakfast buffet provided a good choice, with some nice touches (e.g. overnight oats with banana) but we found that from 9am it was quite busy and as a result they were unable to handle food requests such as poached eggs or eggs benedict.
We enjoyed our visit and a special mention should go to Annaya and Callum on reception who were both polite, helpful and professional in all our interactions and issues. We would consider coming again.
A tip: We were definitely happy we had paid for a sea-view room as the rooms at the back of the hotel have a limited inland view.
Also note you have to pay £10 per night parking, which is annoying."
"The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was amazing, the view was gorgeous and the location is perfect.
I suggest if you need hypoallergenic bedding that you request at the time of reserving, it’s not standard to have it included in the room."
"The Grand hotel is lovely. Its in a great location, close to the train station, beach and town centre. The outside pool was great, lovely and warm. Our family room was great, it was very spacious and the seaview was stunning.
The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really high standard. The bar staff were also lovely.
My only negative comment would be about a couple of the reception/front of house staff. There was a young girl who was on duty when we checked in and her attitude was just a bit abrupt and blunt. She didn't give a welcoming feeling at all on arrival and when we had a question for her she gave the impression it was too much hassle for her to help. Check out was smooth but when we went to collect our luggage from the luggage room the mail member of staff who got our bags, threw one bag down on the floor in front of us and then had a bit of an attitude when we informed him we were still waiting for 3 more bags. I think the reception staff could maybe do with a customer service refresher course."
"Stayed on the third floor, small room, plenty of space, the room was clean with no damage, shower worked great. There was a fan in there which is helpful in the summer, didn’t have any noise complaints to make.
Only stayed for one night so can’t come in on much else, the room key can be used for the front door when reception is closed after 10 pm and be aware that the keys go in the door horizontal rather than vertical and they also turn anticlockwise which takes some getting used to.
Overall, very happy with my stay and I would stay here again."
