"We stayed at this unique traditional country-style hotel in Archanes-Asterousia for two nights, and it was a wonderful choice. The hotel features a charming inner courtyard that adds to its authentic atmosphere. We arrived from Heraklion International Airport much earlier than the check-in time, but the manager, a young woman named Ieva (apologies if the spelling is incorrect), was incredibly kind and welcomed us without hesitation. She even helped us with our heavy luggage. She first showed us the room we had originally booked, and then offered us the option to upgrade to a larger apartment. We chose the upgraded apartment, which had two spacious separate rooms. Each room was decorated in a traditional country style, with charming small windows that perfectly reflected the authentic character we were looking for. Our apartment was equipped with all the necessary amenities. The hotel is located on a hillside in a small town surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The town itself is full of pretty cobbled streets, colourful houses with well-tended gardens, and quaint cafés and tavernas. On our first evening, we were lucky enough to have dinner at a small taverna where five local musicians performed traditional live music and singing, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious authentic Cretan breakfast with an egg omelet, Greek yogurt, orange juice, and a variety of sweet pastries. At this lovely authentic hotel we felt like at home."

"The villas was very clean, spacious and modern. We were there March 12-16 so very early in the season. The pools were closed which I didn’t know until getting there as it was shown when I booked that heated pools were all year round. There was apparently a sandstorm from Africa for a week prior to us coming which then closed the pools. The host offered us an extra night free however we already had our flights back to Athens booked so couldn’t take advantage of that. Michaelis offered a dinner for the 4 of us so we took him up on that offer and it was excellent. The location was pretty good, 20 min from Heraklion, beaches, about 40 min to the CreteAquarium. It’s a pretty quiet area that you are in, the locals are quite friendly and helpful I would stay again as long as the pool was open as my kids felt the disappointment with it not being open. "

"Our stay at Troullos Traditional Houses was wonderful! Our host Athena was fantastic - so helpful, welcoming and kind. We felt very well taken care of and supported in our questions. Our lodging was fully equipped with a small kitchen and everything we might need. The patio overlooking Mt Juctas was a delight in addition to the beautiful courtyard. Highly recommend! "

"We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful stone villa in Crete. The place is full of charm, spotless, and perfectly blends traditional style with comfort. Yiannis was a fantastic host, very welcoming, helpful, and always ready with great local tips. The villa’s peaceful setting and great location made it easy to explore nearby villages. Highly recommend!"

Castello Villa Daphnes - Private Pool & Whirlpool

"We had a really lovely time at this house — it’s spacious, surrounded by lots of greenery, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The pool was absolutely beautiful and made our stay even more enjoyable. The shaded garden and good isolation from neighbors created a real sense of privacy, which we truly appreciated. The interior offered plenty of space for a group, and most of us felt very comfortable. However, there were a few issues that future guests should be aware of. First, some of the doors didn’t close properly, which was inconvenient and should definitely be fixed. Second, there was not enough space for the ninth person — this should be clearly mentioned in the listing, or at least shown in the photos to manage expectations. Also, the washing machine didn’t work during our stay, which was disappointing, especially for a longer trip. And one small but annoying detail: the kitchen really lacked proper knives – for a house of this standard, better kitchen equipment would make a big difference. All in all, it’s a beautiful place with lots of potential — just a few improvements and more transparency in the listing would make it perfect."
