"There are several positives about this hotel - the room looked lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the pool was great. The staff at check in, and at our evening meal, were great. However, the main reason to stay at a hotel is to get some sleep - and that didn't happen. The thermostat in our room didn't work properly, so by 1am we rang reception to see if there was anything they could do. Someone came to the room, but they couldn't help. No other room was offered to us, so we lay there all night with the temperature over 25 degrees. The following morning at checkout, I explained what happened. The woman at reception said the only thing she could do is apologise and arrange for someone to fix the thermostat. Not great customer service! The timing was unfortunate. It was my birthday on the day of departure. We were staying there as it was near Heathrow, and we were flying to the States for surgery. I'm disabled, and unfortunately if I don't get sleep my pain goes through the roof. I explained that an apology wasn't sufficient for a night with no sleep, and no offer of a different room. In the end she reluctantly offered to refund the £25 late checkout fee, but I shouldn't have had to push for this. We have a small company of our own, and for us, customer satisfaction is paramount. For that reason, we won't be staying here again."

"We had a short buy sweet stay. The staff were friendly, the room was spotless and breakfast was yummy. Plenty of parking too. Only two things to note 1. We could hear the next door room, and movement (footsteps) from the room above us 2. We booked the 'Executive Room, 1 King Bed'. The bed was two mattresses with one mattress cover - not the most comfortable for a couple."

"We had a lovely overnight stay for my best friends birthday , she had a fabulous Driftaway spa treatment with the wonderful Charlotte , the setting of the hotel is beautiful & we enjoyed a leisurely walk around the lake . The room we stayed in hd everything we needed & we lovely & cleam . Food in restaurant was good with plenty of choice, the only small negative was that it was undergoing a refurbishment which limited us to access to bars & dining , but the staff were great , very friendly nothing was too much trouble we had a really lovely relaxing weekend and cannot wait to go back !! "

"Breakfast fresh but no eggs or french toast. Car parking awful. I was told I should have prebooked but never told of this. Had to park dangerously to find where car park entrance was. Not very pleasant."

"Lets get the good things out of the way. Firstly, the beds were lovely and comfy and we slept well in them, the night was peaceful with no noise from other rooms, the gentleman on reception very swiftly sorted out an issue that we had with the room which I will get to shortly, we loved the amenities in the room (kettle, hair dryer, fridge, iron and ironing board, great TV and lots of lighting options with lamps etc). Also a view of the river. However, we booked a family room for 2 adults and one child, so three people and when we got to the room, it was only set up for two so I call down to reception to sort the issue out. The phone was not answered so I had to go downstairs and find the receptionist who swiftly sorted the problem. The room on first impressions looked clean but on closer inspection we found a fair amount of rubbish had been left by previous guests which I think was easily visible (toy packaging sticking out from under one bed and McDonald's sauce packet and bottle lid under the other) and some sweet wrappers on the floor near the bed, the desk was wobbly and will fall apart when being leant on, there didn't seem to be any central heating and there was a questionable portable heater, the shower head in the bathroom was dirty/rusty and the taps needed better cleaning. I feel that a bit more attention to detail is needed and this hotel would be a 10/10 but at the moment I would rate it a 6. Also checkout is at 11.30 not 12pm which i feel is normal for a hotel"
