In the evening when this photo was taken, the canyon takes on a soft, almost painterly light. If you can, make a visit right after sunrise and return for the sunset.

  • We visited this location but ideally needed to be there in the afternoon as the sun was on the "wrong" side of the arch. I used a wide lens to capture the arch and didn't attempt to correct the distortion as I felt it added to the picture (for me anyway). It took a long time to get this without hoardes of people in the shot.

Affordable and nice

Great place to stay, affordable for Yellowstone area. Quiet and a nice play to end the day with a nice comfortable bed. I was not looking for anything fancy. I would definitely stay again next time I come.

Was a little difficult to find at first, really need to watch for the sign. Does not serve breakfast or meals but there are plenty of places to eat at around the area. Overall would stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay in Gardiner. The hotel is renovated and really nice. It has everything you need for a long stay. Additional bonus is the beautiful view of the mountains from the room. The location is super convenient if you are visiting Yellowstone which we were.

When I visit Yellowstone, I’m out of the hotel before 5 AM and I don’t get back until after the sunset so I’m not the best judge of quality of a hotel other than the fact that the bed was excellent, the shower was hot and I got a great nights sleep in between the hours in the park. It’s perfectly functional, not fancy, but safe and clean.

The hotel was in a great location for the North Gate of Yellowstone but the town is very small. We were craving pizza for dinner but there is only one pizza place in town and the reviews were not good. There is a grocery store close by but the room only has a small fridge and they have a microwave down in the common area so made making a dinner tricky. Restaurants in the town were a bit pricy for what you get but because there isnt much around you are stuck paying it. The room its self was clean and beds were ok but the bathtub had a strange angle so you couldn't lay in it properly. Was really cool to have Elk and deer hang out in front of the hotel.
