"It was a beautiful stay. We loved staying in the smaller town, great easy hikes all around, super walkable. The bus stop is right down the hill and easy to reach from all the surrounding cities. I recommend renting a car, as the bus schedule can be limited and taxis can be very pricey. The house was so amazing, I would recommend caution as the stairs are quite steep and could be hazardous for anyone with mobility issues. All in all, amazing. Thank you!"
"Gorgeous home with brilliant view. You need a car, no food nearby. Management is slow to respond and wanted $50 for every half hour after checkout.
We will want to return but be prepared!"
"Overall a 4.7 rating. I would absolutely book with them again if I ever return to the Faroe Islands. But it's about expectations.
The three of us who stayed in the boathouse don't require much.
The common area was wonderful, with a view of the channel, the breakwater, and the small harbor. It was the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee to watch the sky lighten in the morning, or have dinner and drinks in the evening after a long day exploring the islands.
I love that there was a kitchenette where I could make breakfast for our trio before we headed out for the day.
The boathouse was clean, well-kept, and very cosy.
You'll need a rental car because it's in the middle of nowhere (which is part of what makes it great). There are two grocery stores, a liquor store, and two pizza places within a 5-minute drive.
A couple "warnings" for travelers used to nice hotel rooms:
1) The beds (and the rooms they're in) are *tiny*. My bed was about 18" (0.5m) wide. That's not a complaint, just information.
2) For North Americans: bed linens are European-style "bottom sheet and duvet w/ cover". If you're looking for NA-style bedding, you'll want to look elsewhere.
3) Hot water for showers is limited. Set the temperature to "warm" and the flow to "eco" and you'll get a good shower.
Lítlastova is an absolutely wonderful place to stay for those who want a cozy place to stay and can take care of themselves."
"A cozy little place with everything we needed. My party loved listening to the radio and looking out at the lovely view over dinner. The village was beautiful and quiet which suited us swell. We had an initial issue with the washer not being plugged in and the host was so quick to respond and solve the thing. "
"We had a fantastic stay at Osla's cottage. The location is absolutely amazing....the scenery from every windows is just a postcard.
Kitchen has everything you need to cook your meals...plus the owners were kind enough to leave us coffee, tea and all the essentials for the first few days. Beds are so comfortable but the serenity of the area/village is what it makes the place so magical. Plus you have hikes right across the road! I can think of just one thing...coming back soon!!! Thank you again for sharing your beautiful place with us. Lili&Adrian "
"Loved my stay here! Although I traveled solo, there is sufficient room for a large family/group. The view of the fjord is extraordinary, and I found myself sitting and watching the beautiful wildlife for hours. The adjustable LED lighting in the kitchen/living room area is a very nice touch, and there are separate indirect heating thermostats to control different parts of the home. The houseboat is situated in a perfect location for driving out of Esturoy and visiting places like Gjógv, Slættaratindur, or many other places of interset for visitors. While nice and secluded, the nearest grocery or Rusan's is only ~16-20 minutes away."
"On the day I checked in, there were a few issues—the hairdryer was broken, the lights didn’t work, and the Wi-Fi was down. However, after I contacted the host, everything was fixed by the next day.
The room was smaller than I expected, but the kitchen was fully equipped with all the utensils and even seasonings, so I didn’t need to buy anything. Just make sure to bring your own cooking oil!
There were cafés and a beach nearby, and the views were beautiful. The drive to get there was fun, and I even got to hike to a waterfall close by."
