"We did not know that the motel had NO office, NO written instructions about process, and NO personnel on site. We did not see any statement on the website (or posted at the motel) about that method of operation, or we would not have made the reservation. Perhaps the info about how it works was included in a correspondence from somebody, but because we were traveling, we did not see it.
We sat in the sun, trying to figure it out, called a number - got an answering machine. When someone responded, they seemed nice enough, but we had already decided to go to a different hotel. We tried to cancel a second reservation scheduled at the same motel for the following Monday 5/18, but the person from the motel - again, seemed nice enough - texted that we had to cancel through Expedia. We didn't want to spend the rest of our family trip dealing with this mess, and would deal with it after we got back home. Hence we had to make a new reservation a different hotel for that night also.
We understand your cancellation policy - and know we missed that window. So we are stuck with paying for two nights at a motel at which we didn't stay. We know that was our choice. So I suppose we won't get any relief from Expedia or anybody else. But - we feel that we were mislead from the beginning, and are asking for, in fairness, an adjustment to what we have already paid through Expedia. Your response to message will determine our future relationship with your company. Thank you. LW Peterson"
"One night stay. Reasonably priced. Older hotel but room was clean, big, bed comfortable, and dog friendly. Staff friendly. I highly recommend a nearby Mexican restaurant called Los Mariachis on Main St."
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Red Bluff-South Redding by IHG
8/10 Good
"We were on the first floor and unfortunately could hear noises from the floor above well after we tried to go asleep. Even earplugs could not drown out the clatter."
"The place is old, spider webs in the room, weird smells, the fridge froze all of our drinks, the motion sensor woke everybody up each time somebody went to the washroom.
Breakfast was terrible: apples with soft spots, large containers with Philadelphia spread that did not look very good, coffee was pre-sweetened.
The pictures online look great but you will be disappointed, especially at the price point of the room. Charging $60/night would be more in line with the experience."
