Hotels near Gertrude Saddle

"Ensure you look at what you're reserving! The place was very clean - which is very important! But the photos look like you'll be looking at the lake - HIGHLY DOUBT you'll be doing that! What I thought was going to be a nice hotel room looking at the lake like the photo ended up being a small cabin/hut not even close to the lake, no frig or AC and the internet literally did not reach my hut. Compared to other places I don't think it was worth the price. Again, this could have been my fault for not looking closer to what I was getting but there was no photos showing what I ended up with. The town is AWESOME though! I should have taken photos of the hut so others can see what they post and what I ended up with."

"Beds were of the old style springs, not comfortable for two with regards to partner disturbance, lucky there was a single bed in the room too, otherwise we both would have had minimal sleep. The rooms were very clean tidy and looked like had a recent refurbish, comfortable arm chairs in the mini seating area. There was a portable induction cooktop supplied to use on the bench, but there was not enough ventilation for cooking anything, there was a standard bathroom type extraction fan in the ceiling but it was in no way strong or sufficient enough to get rid of cooking smells, we only cooked once due to this. Surely a proper cooking extractor fan over the cooking area would be a requirement? The air conditioner was great kept our rooms nicely cool at night and warmed us well when needed in the morning. Friendly cleaning staff."

"I received a message from the hotel, but they never replied my message for late checkin question. The front desk staff was not friendly. She seems unhappy when dealing with customers. "

"We chose this location as we knew it would be a bit quirky, and it definitely delivered on this. The check in time was chaotic, with only one person and a short time period to arrive, lots of campers without reservations were queueing up to be booked in. Our motel unit had all the amenities we needed, with a full kitchen. The shower was hot, with good water pressure, all good as long as you aren't too tall. The decor was a slice of the Swiss Alps :-) We could park right outside our unit and it had an awesome view of the lake and mountains from the living area. There was no road noise at night, and the location was very convenient for an early morning trip to Doubtful Sound. While the surfaces e.g. kitchen and bathroom in the unit were clean, there was a lot of dust and grime behind furniture, on skirting boards etc. - suggest that these are in need of a deep clean. Washing machines (x2) and dryers (x2) were at the main utilities area; because it was around teatime and people were using microwaves etc. in the same block, the power cut out and we needed to find a staff member to reset the breaker/fuse. You need $2 coins for these - available from reception during check in time."
