Crown and Mitre Hotel

"We were met by a lovely young man at reception gave us our room key & pointed us in the right direction. We had the double bed en-suite room which was spotless the bathroom was lovely and clean too with soap & bath-towels provided. The added extras of 2 Bathrobes & slippers bottles of water with glasses and crisps along with the tea, coffee, kettle & biscuits were all a lovely added touch!! ( Also a iron & ironing board in the wardrobe if needed ) The room was lovely & spacious, very clean & a very comfortable bed we had a great night sleep in. We overlooked the square so a great location. There is also a bar on the premises which we happened to be lucky and there was a singer there the night we arrived, good fun. The young man that met us at reception was also part of the bar staff very friendly, cheerful & very helpful. We ordered a Chinese delivery as we missed dinner, the bartender actually gave us some cutlery and plates to use which was over and beyond a great service thank you so much. The breakfast was excellent, a Continental followed by a full English which was served by a very very cheerful lady who greeted us on our arrival at the dinning area a lovely lady a credit to your hotel. The hotel was really beautiful with a large spiral staircase in the middle a really pretty building. As I said before all your staff weโre over and beyond a creit to yiur hotel we would definitely return again, thank you so much for a wonderful stay ๐โฅ๏ธ"

"Lovely hotel, beautiful location by river, handy for local places of interest.Hadrians wall, lots of great walks, lovely villages nearby. Room good, clean and spacious, food excellent at breakfast and in restaurant. Staff, particularly on reception were very helpful. Highly recommend this hotel, and would love to stay again in future."

"My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful stay. All of the staff was a pleasure to talk with. We stayed in the tower suit on the fifth and top floor. Be aware there is no elevator but they do have a small lift for your suitcase and staff can bring up for you. The lounge and bar area was beautiful to sit in. We also had dinner at the castle and it was fantastic. the chef prepared us some extra dishes that were delicious we felt like we were treated like royalty. At 1015 every day they do a tour of the castle and talk about the history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept it fun and light hearted. The grounds also has peacocks we had a fun time walking around looking for them. Over all it was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend it."

"We really enjoyed our stay for two nights at Battlesteads. Two things really stood out - the food was excellent (except chips - a minor thing), and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming without being overbearing. The last point, about how all staff were nice to interact with, was a major selling point and is why we will return. A special shout out to Dan ("Dan, Dan, the beverage man") for being so helpful and recommending Flyte - a top tip! Ad Gefrin sold two bottles to us as a result! Such a pleasant time, great food, and drink, and an impressive walking guide (which we used) and an observatory on the door step!"
