Staff are lovely. In particular Axia was very helpful. Thank you. Markus very friendly. Everyone else was very nice. Breakfasts lovely. Quirky decor. Some rooms could blackout better for sleep e.g. street lights shone thru bathroom windows with no blinds

Noises Bars Partying Until 3am
Lovely hotel. But the noise from the nearby bars was an issue until 3am every night during the weekend.

An “art hotel”, well positioned for exploring the more interesting parts of Gothenburg. The bath and wash hand basins are in the room, which we find odd. The separate loo and shower are behind a glass door, which is not soundproof. If you are not into excessive intimacy you might not find it enjoyable. Breakfast was a slightly stressful affair due to space constraints. The buffet was reasonable.

Great location; excellent staff; mostly well-appointed, clean and comfortable hotel. Good breakfast buffet. Bed rather too soft for my taste. Housekeeping - specifically the response to the 'please make up my room' notice was poor - perhaps a function of a very busy time of my stay. Wifi not strong in my room. Power socket supply adequate but not good.

We enjoyed our dinner at the Avalon restaurant one night and decided we would like to try staying at the hotel. The front desk staff was the best thing about the hotel - they were always pleasant and helpful, even when there was a problem or concern. I could see they were dedicated to giving good service. The main reason we only stayed only one night was because the rooms felt cold and empty and some of the artwork that was meant to be avant garde or modern was off-putting. Cartoon-like paintings of naked women and shag carpet in the hallway just feels tacky to me. The hotel location is good. The staff is good. The rooms could use a renovation.

Great location – less than 30mins from the airport on the Flygbussarna, get off at the Kungsportsplatsen stop and it’s literally across the road. Also across the road from the Tourist Information centre. Easy to walk around to majority of places from the hotel, including Haga district. Loads of great restaurants nearby. Had a twin room on the 5th floor – very spacious and clean. Bathroom was big too, with plenty of space to put personal toiletries, although they provided nice toiletries. Great design with unique decoration throughout. Buffet breakfast provided in the restaurants (great for dinner also!) – lots of items to choose from both hot and cold and great selection of teas. Staff friendly and very helpful.

A great experience
One of the best customer service both at hotel and in restaurant Staff was very attentive but never intrucive or ignoring you. Great pick of staff. They where the sugar coating and the foundation of the business Lovely feature with a artist's displayes and my bath in the middle of the room was just best for a traveller who needs their rest for muscles to recover Very relaxing, With the combination of the bedding and silence, I slept better than I have done for weeks. It was clean and welcoming with lovely food

A fabulous place to stay. Beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean hotel in a great location - the airport bus stops just outside. Staff friendly and welcoming. Rooms are comfortable, well kept and every detail thought of. Loved the open bath. Bed so comfortable. Great breakfast. We walked everywhere, but if you dont fancy that there is great public transport and trams and buses nearby. Only criticism is Friday and Saturday night there is noise from the bar/disco opposite, into the small hours if you are in a room facing the Food Hall. It didn't ruin our overall stay however, as everything else was perfect.

Highly recommend the Avalon
Very much enjoyed our stay at the Avalon. Perfect location within walking distance to shops and restaurants in downtown Gothenburg. Wonderful breakfast buffet and excellent restaurant for dinner.

The staff were really helpful, accommodating and very friendly; alway made time for us. The buffet breakfast had lots of variety and was of exceptional quality. Our room was very clean , spacious and well maintained. Cannot speak or recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you to everyone for an amazing stay.

They have a small swimming pool on the roof. People were always in it and hours are Noon - 6pm. So I never used it. It looks cool from the street. The room was clean. There was a club or music festival pumping techno music. It was enough for me to hear it late at night, but I was still able to sleep. If this is an issue for you maybe ask for a different quieter room away from the music. I asked for a king bed, but they attached two twin beds together. Maybe this is a common European thing. I really like the bathtub shower. I used it once for a bubble bath. The room was clean. No sofa. Two chairs. No table or desk. The staff were friendly. They had a good selection for breakfast. The area is walkable and there's lots of shopping around. Public transportation is just outside the hotel on the main street.

Came to stay with my husband and 6 friends. Absolutely fabulous stay, quirky and well designed hotel and rooms full of funky features. Staff could not have been nicer and breakfast had a great collection of excellent quality foods. The dinner we had at hotel with friends was stunning with impeccable service, we were all very happy and hope to be back soon. Also would like to mention that this hotel also has the ultimate location smack middle of Gothenburg. Surrounded by great eateries, bars, shopping with almost every part of Gothenburg within easy walking distance. Thank you ladies and guys at Avalon for making our stay fabulous.
