"There are some really lovely things about this hotel, including the wonderful gardens, a great pool and a fantastic breakfast. However, for a five star hotel, my deluxe room felt very basic and the bathroom was cramped with no windows and no storage space. The most disappointing thing was the staff. Our experience was extremely mixed we had a very good initial welcome but then a waitress for supper at the pool bar was dismissive and very unfriendly and that was the experience throughout There was unfortunately a fire alarm in the middle of the night when we were there, which caused all guest to vacate their rooms. These things happen but I was against surprised that for a small family run hotel there was no word of apology for the inconvenience verbally or in writing from members of staff. So a mixed day, but for the money, I don’t think I would be back despite the lovely garden and breakfast"

"The hotel is in easy walking distance to old town Aix. More importantly it is a beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities. Brunch was delicious. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was very clean and a good size when compared to others in Europe. I would highly recommend this hotel!"

"We enjoyed our free glass of wine (an Expedia perk, but a nice selection of drinks are available to purchase). Breakfast in the courtyard was lovely. The location was great for us--easy walking distance to restaurants, etc, but quiet even though our room overlooked a main street."

"Decided to go to Provence for a couple of days from St Tropez at the last minute and didn’t know what to expect. The hotel was a wonderful surprise. The property is beautiful. The pool was great. And the staff was terrific. We loved the town, felt like you were in a storybook. I would highly recommend."

"Chateau de la Gaude is a stunning property, with excellent on site dining experiences, beautifully appointed, modern rooms, and a spectacular garden. What keeps this hotel from being a five star experience for me, was the rather lackluster staff. No one was rude, just moderately not helpful."
