Probably the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at. Kind and cordial staff also. Breakfast wasn't amazing, but it definitely wasn't bad. The coffee WAS amazing.

I will preface this review by saying that this location is currently being renovated. First impressions when we pulled into the parking lot were ‘okay’. The new sign and lobby entrance weren’t the greatest first impression, but again, it is being renovated. We loved the location to everything we had planned for the weekend. As a FYI, it is walking distance to the Alerus Canter. The location and hotel felt safe and the parking lot is well lit. The rooms were good; they were clean, felt comfortable and were fairly modern. The staff were friendly. My “complaints” would be that the hot tub was under maintenance (super disappointing), the breakfast was very average (I’d suggest adding some toast and/or bagels, some hot options, a variety of fruit and some consideration for people with allergies) and the shower head was not very good. We would probably try staying here again once the reno is complete to give it another try, but for the price we paid, I’d be less inclined to do that when other hotels in the area were the same price and weren’t under construction.

We were given rooms on the 3rd floor which was fine but when we got off the elevator it was freezing cold. When we got to our room it was 61 degrees in the room. I called front desk to move to another room and she said there was nothing…which I found hard to believe as it was a Monday night and there were very few cars in the parking lot. We left to go to the hot tub thinking the room would warm up. We were gone for approximately an hour and the room did not get much warmer. I called for a portable heater and they said they don’t have any. We left again for supper then when we returned a couple of hours later it did warm up a bit. I do not believe that this is very professional. If they want to turn off the heat to save money then dont rent out rooms. I am very disappointed.

The entire 2nd floor and stairwell smelled strong of weed, coming out of our room the smell would hit us like a wall. I understand this is a problem with the people, not the hotel, but this shows the type of people coming to this hotel. We could hear other people through the wall the entire night, the rooms are not well sound proofed. The tv did not work in our room and the heating system was very incorrect, we woke up to a very hot room when it was only set to 65 degrees. We only stayed for 1 night so we did not feel the need to complain about the numerous issues.
